Meers Connect vs Uber/Lyft?

I am curious about the value of taking the bus over something like an UberXL?


I never took Meers, we always drove. I haven't been to the MCO airport in about 20 years, so I don't know much about it. For those that have used the new service, why did you choose it? For a family of 4, Uber seems cheaper? I get the value of the okd system, but not sure I see the point in paying 100 for a family of 4, then have to wait for multiple hotel stops too? But maybe there are benefits I don't know?

I just booked the standard round trip ticket for Meers for our upcoming trip in two weeks. We have 7 people traveling with us. I originally thought we might take 2 Ubers. I read that the latest pricing before tip was averaging $80 before tip. For as many people as we have, I decided Meers might be best. Our cost round trip is $219.

Yeah, I realized I had a brain fart after posting a little bit. I'm estimating for a family of 4 it would be a little bit over a $100 for the bus round trip. It would be 60 without tip one way for the XL Uber. A little bit more expensive, but still cheaper than the express option through the bus system. And the benefit of direct. For that many people though, I would definitely see the wisdom in the bus.

Variable pricing means it could be a little more expensive, or a lot more expensive to use Uber. There are no car seat requirements on Mears. There is also an availability question, that seems to have lessened but at one point it was difficult to get an Uber. The knowledge that your ride is booked.

Ty. Maybe I'll just book the express option. I just really hate the idea of taking an extra 30 to 40 minutes to get to my hotel because they have to stop at 4 other ones 1st.

We've always used ME but will likely Uber in March. We arrive in the evening and I'm okay paying a bit more to go straight to the resort.

Another option beyond the Express service offered via Mears Connect is private car service via Mears or any of the other highly reputable companies in the area. FL Tours is the sponsor of this subforum, and many people like them a lot. It will likely be less expensive than Mears Connect’s Express option.

Ty, I'll look into that. Hubby has a hard time swallowing 118 for a bus lol for only 4.

The issue isn't the cost, but value for the cost. We don't mind spending more for direct service with smaller crowds.

It would have to a LOT cheaper for the bus before I'd pick that over Uber/Lyft, and it isn't. If you need car seats it's more complicated but if not I'll take a private ride you catch right outside of baggage claim every time.

Unfortunately it's unlikely the bus would be the better environmental choice as they don't run full typically. They also tend to run the air conditioning while waiting to depart. Uber Green is an excellent choice for those looking for an Environmentaly friendly option.

Yes, it’s easy to find. It’s on the baggage claim level, at either extreme end of the terminal.

Unless something has changed there is one pickup location on the A side and one on the B side. Both are located on the far right, facing the exit doors. It's at the end of the terminal so the cars leave the area as soon as they pickup. Outside southwest baggage claim

You said it right, but I first thought you meant 2 on each side of the terminal.

The cars wait in a holding area, that's why the minimum wait is 5 to 10 minutes.
