Meeko's Walt Disney World Trip December 2004

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted on this trip report, but I’m determined to finish posting what I started. After spending some the first part of the day enjoying Holidays Around The World at EPCOT, it was on to Disney-MGM Studios for a little taste of Hollywood.

On the way to the Studios, it was about check in time at the Boardwalk. Since it was on the way, I stopped off to see if my room was ready. It was, and I put my luggage back in the room before walking to MGM.

I was excited to see the newly-refurbished Magic of Disney Animation attraction, but I still took a little time to watch some of the streetmosphere actors and look around the Sorcerer’s Hat Courtyard. From there though, it was off to the Animation attraction where the theater for Mushu’s “Drawn to Animation” show was just about to open its doors for the next show. It may not be “Back to Neverland”, but it was still pretty cute. The part with Meeko and Redfeather was awesome (nice to finally see Redfeather in animation), and I admit I had to chuckle when they made the “we should have gotten Timon” joke. After the show, I checked out some of the exhibits about The Incredibles and Chicken Little before heading to the new interactive area.

I headed to Lumiere and Cogsworth’s Disney Character Personality Test to see who I was most like. The results came in and according to the quiz, I was most like Flik from “A Bug’s Life”. Just to be doubly sure, I took the test again. The results came in again and they came out the same- I was most like Flik from “A Bug’s Life”. After thinking about it, it struck me that Flik was actually a pretty good match for me. He’s imaginative, optimistic, and a nice guy, and I think that describes me pretty well. After that, I tried my hand at doing voice work in a scene from “Beauty and the Beast” at one of the sound booths. Even though the attraction isn’t the same since the Florida Animation Studio closed down, it’s still pretty fun.

It was getting close to dusk, so it was off to the Big City Street to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. It wasn’t quite time for the lights to be turned on, so while I was waiting, I checked out the San Francisco Street which had been added since I had last been. It was blocked off to prepare for the evening, but from what I could see, it looked pretty nice. Next it was off to some of the shops in the area. It had been my plan that the pin I would buy on this trip would be of the character that the test at the Animation attraction said I was most like. So, I checked in all the shops to see if any of them had a Flik pin. No luck, although I did manage to buy a few Kim Possible figurines from a vending machine at Pizza Planet (yes I admit it, I like the show ).

There was still a little time left so I checked out the AFI Showcase to see if the exhibit had changed since last year. It was still the villains exhibit, but there did seem to be a few new items from the Haunted Mansion movie. I headed back to the Big City Street where a new band called Mulch, Sweet, and Shears was playing a rock version of “Wonderful Christmastime” near the Lights Motors Action entrance. Soon, they were leaving and the Osborne Lights preshow. 4 For a $ were singing in it which was a nice surprise. Soon the streets were lit and I got my first look at the Big City Street completely lit. I miss the Residential Street, but having the lights here gives it a whole new feel that was neat to experience. All in all, a job well done for Disney in bringing back one of my favorite holiday traditions in the park. After enjoying the lights, I walked through the Echo Lake area back to Hollywood Boulevard to check some of the shops there. Still no Flik pins. I figured that maybe I would be able to find one the next day. I left the park and just as Fantasmic began, it was onto the boat back to EPCOT to have dinner at the Boulangerie in France. Of course that included pastry- a chocolate éclair this time. :teeth: I grabbed a table in the seating area of the gift shop and enjoyed the end of a very pleasant day in the parks before walking back to my room at the Boardwalk.

Bumping so all the imstallments of this trip report are together.
