Mediterranean Excursions

Are you booked on it yet ??? I am supposedly on a wait list but haven't heard anything yet??

Hi MJGirl,
The Disneyland Paris packages are available now. They are using two hotels, the Hotel New York ($779 adult/$150 child) and Newport Bay ($700 adult/$150 child) for a 3 night/3 day Park Hopper ticket. Air from BCN to CDG can be arranged through Disney if you book. No ground transfers, no extra night add-ons. Got this info from AAA travel agent.

Hope this helps, give your TA a call :)

I knew they were available, but has anyone actually booked one??? I've talked to DCL and they said that I am waitlisted and they will contact my TA when they are booking them. That was before Jan 1.

I could book when I called monday. I just didn't know if I wanted to spend 3 days at disney when in paris. I want to take my DD to paris and all the sights, so I told my TA to look into staying in paris and then spending a day at DLP. If that ends up being so much more than staying at DLP then I will book the disney extension. Call your TA again and have them check for you or just call DCL they should be able to book w/o the TA.

The Villefranche departure isn't until 11:30 p.m., so you can have a nice late evening!

Will they let you back on the ship if you go to the casino loose your shirt and everything?

Do you know the only way to come out of a Monte Carlo Casino as a Millionaire???

ANSWER BELOW:_

Go in as a billionaire!

They must have revised the port times. I'm still working on the old schedule. I'll have to check. I wonder why they extended that port, unless it was because people really wanted to do the Casino.
Last time I had a late night in Nice was 28 years ago.Don't think I could do another evening with French wine.
I think I'll be back on the boat by sunset.

Actually, when I printed it out on Dec 14th it was 11:30pm board time. So I don't think the port time has changed. At least it hasn't for me.

I hope they don't continue changing the port times because that could get confusing...

Next Day is the last sea day and it shouldnt take long to get back to Barcelona!

Guess all the cruise staff want to act like BOND, James Bond.

Anyone having a hard time on deciding on a tour for the Rome port. I got to get rid of that idea that I'm gonna see it all.

I was looking at the Ultimate Rome Experience or Exlcusive VIP Visit of the Vatican & Highlights of Rome. There is a huge price difference between the two obviously. But I was wondering how important is it to see the inside of the Colosseum...

Ultimate Rome Experience

St. Peter's Basilica (inside portion can be cancelled if line too long
Renaissance Rome
External City
Trevi Fountain
Lunch
Then, 2 hours of Rome on your own
Tour is 10 to 10.5 hours

Private VIP Visit of the Vatican & Hightlights of Rome

Aurelian Walls
Pyramid of Caius Cestius
Circus Maximus
Piazza Venezia
Roman Forum
Lunch
Tour of Basilica & St Peter's Square
Private Tour of Sistine Chapel
Visit Pope's private collections
Tour 11.5 to 12 hours...

What tour would you pick and why? I've never been to Rome so I want to get the most out of this port. Can you do anything on your own in 2 hours or would it just be walking around shopping time. I'm not really interested in shopping at these ports. I'm more for sights.

I printed it out many months ago, maybe even when the first announced the cruise. I'm happy to see that they are spending more time in some ports. I'm still not all that sold on Sardinia, and am having a tough time actually finding much about it in tour books.

As far as the Rome tours, we are pretty much undecided as yet also. However, whichever tour we do must include a stop at the Pantheon. Other than that, I'm open. It would be nice to see the Vatican art museum, and ancient sites also. But not being there before either, I'd rather not have lots of time on our own to get lost in. We'll have to see what looks best as we get closer.

We're also having a hard time decidng the excursion in Rome. We are considering Ultimate Rome or the VIP Vatican, too. I think we're leaning towards Ultimate Rome.

Are you on the 10 or 11 night? reason i ask is i know for my cruise (6/6) which is a 10, we hit sardina on a sunday, which means many things will be closed... i figure it is a good day to rest up before galavanting all over rome the next day.

One of my students is from Italy. When I mentioned that we would be stopping in Sardinia and that it looked like there wasn't much there to do, he was surprised! He said that the water there is the clearest and the cleanest. The place is beautiful he said. So, we're thinking of something at the beach.

We're doing the 11night. End of July. I think the post after yours is interesting, from MrsG. I would be intereted in seeing some really ancient sites, but I'm not sure we want to spend a day at the beach. (Other than at Nice maybe.) It might be interesting if there is a private beach party or something similar for cruisers. I have to go back and check the excursions.

We're on the July 28 11 night. The only port we're doing a beach excursion will be Sardinia.

We take the RER "A4" train between Paris and DLP. It takes ~40 minutes, and cost 6.10 EUR one way (March 2006). Go to the Marne-la-Vallee / Chessy station, which is right at the entrance to DLP.

Boy, this is hard to choose. After saying I'd want a guide, I actually pulled out a map of Rome tonight and looked over distances. An awful lot of the things we'd like to see seem to be in walking distance, at least a few miles from one end to the other. That's not bad. Saying that, however, if it's 90 degrees there in August, that's another story. So, since there is an independent tour, that could be the way to go. Hook up with another couple, or couple of couples, and set out on our own.
One of the things I don't like about a lot of the excursions is that lunch is included in the price. I'm just afraid that we'll wind up in a tourist stop that caters to groups, and not have a chance to find a real local place. We can still do that, but then we are paying for something we don't use.
What to do? What to do? :scratchin
