I just bought tix for this show in August, since we have never done anything like it. They recommend you come 90 minutes early for the "buy lots of overpriced stuff" routine...

Anyone been there?
Wondering what kinds of junk I am saying no to
or getting it for a fraction of the price at the dollar store :)

I figure this is a good "done it once" event
since I got half price tickets (still $30)

any suggestions welcomed!

Actually they have a little more to do there than just buying the overpriced souvenirs. They have a medieval village you can walk through with lots of authentic artifacts. I think your seating may also be based on when you check in; I'm not sure though as we did the VIP upgrade (worked out great...we were first row in the center of the arena). I was surprised at how organized the seating process was; they did it by section color. Here's my review: http://bit.ly/BlfpS

We went there last year for my daughter's 10th birthday. I wasn't looking forward to it. I ended up having a great time. The food was good, you can buy extra alcohol if you wish (beer comes with your meal) and the show was entertaining. The village was interesting too. Oh yeah, my daughter loved the experience as well.

Absolutely wonderful review! I want to bookmark YOU and all of your reviews! Sounds like it will be a fun time, we got a great deal on the tickets so I "may" be willing to pony up a few more bucks for the stuff....or not, I am the queen of bargains! Your review is awesome, love the pictures and real life suggestions! thanks!

I am sure my kids will enjoy it, we don't do a lot of "extra" stuff like this, so they will find it very special. I don't think beer is included anymore, though.

We have a local Medieval Times but I imagine that it's pretty similar. The food is only OK and the whole thing is very expensive. However, we had a blast when we went. I have a thing for knights though... :)

Beer was included when we were there in January earlier this year. My 2 older sons liked it because they don't like eating with utensils.:rotfl: We ended up buying wooden swords for all 3 boys and DS3 got a foam shield. He played with it just about everyday for 3 months, and DS13 is holding one of the wooden sword right now.:lmao: DW also bought a giant margarita, so we still have that glass as well.

90 minutes is way too early. They seat by colors (of your crown) and the place was half full when we were there, so unless you forked more for VIP seating, you'll be fine. Just work your way closer to the door when the King starts talking. Closer isn't necessarily better because of all that dust that is kicked up from the horses.;)

thanks! we just have regular seating

How did you do that little family thing under your post?

I am not a big fan, I like silverware, I don't like to eat things that should not be eaten with your hands with your actual hands:scared1: ( even the chicken there is forkable chicken). Not a fan. Arabian nights had a great show, same caliber of food (ok), still have free beer and wine( cheap though) and you get silverware to eat with.

:lmao: you crack me up, Shannon!
I like silverware too, but I am sure my kids are going to think it is outrageous fun to NOT have any. In fact, my youngest prefers to eat without silverware at most occasions and gets reminded quite frequently how PEOPLE eat!:rotfl2:

If you order the vegetarian meal at Medieval Times, you will get silverware (I know because DH can't eat chicken so he ordered the veggie meal).

How did you get your tickets for 1/2 price? I am looking to do a dinner show the week of August 3rd and would LOVE to save some money!

On the site, they have some deals, like buy an adult ticket, get a kid free.
I used this link for ALL tickets for $30, kid and adult. It worked out better for me, you could price it out both ways!
Good luck!
