So hubby and I are going for 3 days. Driving up Wednesday morning (Sept. 3rd), and I was thinking that night taking him to Medieval Times in Buena Park since he has never been. According to Google maps it is only about 12 miles away. The only show time they have that night is @ 7:00 pm. So that would mean leaving the park and going to the hotel to get the car around 6:00. Has anyone ever fit this in to their Disney vacation? What do you think? I am open to suggestions, thanks!

Medieval Times is good if you've never been before. The food could be better, but I haven't been there in a long time. Maybe it's changed. If you've ever been to the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur in Las Vegas, I think that's even better than Medieval Times, but I haven't been to either of them in years.

I have not been yet to the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament Show, however, I have spent time on their website, and have seen segments from their shows on t.v., the full course meal, looks wonderful, and the best part of the dinner, for me, would be the show!
I love horses, those that are in this show, are Andalusian Stallions, they are so beautiful, the breed is from Spain, and they are bred, raised and trained, for these shows, on a beautiful ranch, called Chapel Creek Ranch, which is in Sanger, Texas, I would so love to visit this ranch, maybe next year, I will do that. I was ever so hoping that the ranch was in Ca. for I believe that I might just love to work there, with of course the horses, for I love them, more than life itself.
I would most definitely recommend taking your husband to this show, especially if he likes to eat, and loves horses. If he does not care much for horses, then I believe that he will not enjoy it nearly as much.

i think you should totally go! ive gone about 3 times and had a blast:thumbsup2 the food and show are both really good, and its just a great experience. its really fun too! especially if your knight wins;) i stood up to cheer for our knight when he won a challenge and he threw me a rose:lovestruc hahahaha you'll lose your voice from cheering and screaming so much!
and afterwards you can meet with the knights and get autographs, and even dance! good times:goodvibes
you could also go a little earlier and go through the torture chamber/museum thing. that was pretty cool:)
definitely make reservations though;)

I love Medieval times, although it has been a while since I have been there. I am no help with times and distances, which is what you are looking for. However, I think you will have a blast and you should totally do it!

We did this a couple years ago, in 2006 (last year we did the pirate adventure) and loved it!! Good food, great show and tons of fun. It didn't take long to find it and it was close to DL. We did ours on a day we didn't go to the parks but you can easily leave and make it for a 7 show. Just make ressies before hand so you're assured of a seat.

i loved it last end of nov i wish we could go again my son would get another dragon he got one last year and still loves it and its knight

We went once on one of our trips. You could get there from DL in plenty of time leaving at 6p for a 7p dinner. We had fun and the food was good. Our knight won and it was a good show. However, we probably wouldn't do it again because while it might be worth $50pp to go once, there's many more things I could spend that $100 on (like dinner at BB which would be cheaper or a really good start on dinner at Napa Rose :goodvibes ). So unless we were traveling with people who wanted to go, we wouldnt' do it again. I'd say it was definitely worth checking out at least once though!

I see the price as being fair, and reasonable, I simply have not had the right timing to visit so far, however in due time I will.
I am most interested in visiting the horses, and talking to the people that handle them on a regular basis, for I have been learning about horses since I was a kid, that was a while ago.
One needs to figure in, not just the expense of the food to be prepared for so many human guests, but as well as the cost of taking care of the horses properly, from hay, which fluctuates in cost from season to season, bedding, (don't know if they are in stalls that have shavings or straw, but another expense all the same) to shoeing, shots, and taking care of any injuries that may occur.and then of course there is the rest of the show expense to deal with. When I finally have an opportunity to visit the show, I will be very happy to know that a part of my money will be going to take care of the horses, that actually makes me feel very good, to know that.

We live in Texas and my son used to choose to go to the one in Dallas every year for his birthday. We have also been to the one in Buena Park. They are really a lot of fun. We always thought the food was very good too.

If you are ever in Vegas the Tournament of Kings is good also.

Is it just me? Or horse's and the dirt and filth while eating ,not make you want to retch???

It's just you. ;)

No seriously, I guess I never thought about it that much. Unless you are right up front I don't think there would be a problem. We have never noticed anything particularly nasty. Actually, he horses are probably better groomed than some of the people in attendance!

But the other people probably don't kick up dirt/dust and feces into your plate. I don't what is with me lately the older I get the more germ-a-phobic I seem to be. Which seems weird as the kid is grown and almost gone?

i was front row and no dirt or naything got kicked in our food. the food was grate

Mariezp,

That is so nice, :) that your son would always love to go to the dinner show for his birthday. I very much hope that he still enjoys attending the show.

So hubby and I are going for 3 days. Driving up Wednesday morning (Sept. 3rd), and I was thinking that night taking him to Medieval Times in Buena Park since he has never been. We just got back from Disneyland (8/10-8/15) and we went to Medieval Times on Monday 8/11 (only one show that night - 7pm). We spent all morning and the early afternoon in disneyland. Left the park at about 5pm, went back to our room (stayed at Residence Inn), cleaned up and left the hotel at roughtly 5:45p. Hopped on the freeway (I-5 north) and arrived at Medieval Times about 15 minutes later. It's real easy to get to (we just printed out directions from MapQuest prior to leaving home). We had prepaid for our tickets, so we checked in and lined up to pick up the tickets at the ticket booth... then went in, took our picture with the princess and waited for them to call us in to be seated.

There is no bad seat in the stadium (and there's no dirt - or feces - flying around either). When you make your reservations they'll tell you to arrive as early as possible to get the "best" seating... but disregard that unless you have a desire to be in the front row - serious there in NO bad seat! Arriving early will leave you nothing to do but stand around and buy the outrageously priced drinks (and kind of watered down for the price, at that).

The show is great and the food is decent (but you're not paying for the food, you're paying for the show - so we were expecting spectacular food to begin with). We had a great time and even had our son "knighted" for his birthday!

Also... we were back at our hotel, once the show was over, by about 9:15p. DL was open until midnight for us, so we headed back to the park for a couple/few hours!!!

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

the drinks i had werent waterd down i had one nice drink and then soda but the nice alcholic drink was so good.

and yes the suviners are overpriced but my sons dragon and knight was 30dollers all togetehr

I see the price as being fair, and reasonable

We thought the price was fair otherwise we wouldn't have done it in the first place. The price is for the dinner and the show, and we had a good time. For us it's more of a been there, done that ... (I am sure there are people who say the same thing about us going to DL all the time :goodvibes ) it is definitely worth seeing once though. That's all I meant ;)

Mariezp,

That is so nice, :) that your son would always love to go to the dinner show for his birthday. I very much hope that he still enjoys attending the show.

He is 17 now. He still enjoys it but just not quite as much as he used to.... well, unless a female goes with us. Last time we went we had 2 teen girls with us. Man! I had forgotten just how much they can scream! Luckily, I was sitting a few seats down! Noisy but it was really a lot of fun though.

Now that he is older he doesn't ask to go there for birthdays each year but it did provide us with a plan for a number of years. I wouldn't hesitate to take him back again if he asked.

Mariezp,

That is nice, that your son continues to enjoy the show, I am glad.
I was wondering if you happened to know anything about the town of Sanger, in Texas? for I have not done any research about the area, so I don't know if it is a small town, or what? when I think of Texas, I think Dallas, Houston, Fortworth, etc. and of course South Fork Ranch, and the Ewings :) he he!
