I called our TA and asked if she could put in a request for a fridge (we're staying at a value) for my son's meds/special food-and she said I will need to bring verification he needs the fridge for his meds. So what doe disney want, a note from the pharmacy? Just making sure we have it all in order, pluse we have a fairly difficult TA, which makes things harder.

They don't need a note of any type. It just needs to be noted on the account that you need a fridge for medical reasons and you will not be billed for it.

Might be time for a new Travel Agent - not because of the misinformation, but because this one is difficult. If they again mention needing a physician letter/authorization for anything, just say, "Thanks, got it covered!" :teeth:

Make sure you mention meds AND food. The med fridges are small and won't hold anything else. You'll need an actual dorm fridge if you have cans of ensure or food items, or whatever it is besides a vial or bottle.

Hi Alaskanabbott,

It is not necessary for a medical note for the fridge at the value resorts. I have relatives who have medication they need refigerated and the fridges are no charge for them. Call the resort directly and speak to a CM. We usually call a week or two in advance and then again the day before we leave. The CM's try to make sure the fridges are on in your room before you get there to make sure it is cold. But one time even after calling the fridge arrived 4 hours after we arrived and were in our room. But that only happened once out of 6 trips that this was needed. The concierge just put the medicine with our name and room number in a fridge they have in the back just for these types of cases until the little fridge gets cold.

Merry Christmas and Have Fun on your trip!

It is true that you don't have to have a note, we've never really needed it. However, I always bring a note from the doc whenever we travel with refrigerated meds. A couple of times they wanted to see it going through security at the airport because we keep them in a lunch bag with gel packs. I just always figure it's better to have proof and not need it, than to need it and not have it. It takes the doctors no time at all to type something up and mail it out to you.

You are not kidding! We will use a different agent in the future for sure!

Did you have the doc or pharmacy type you something? I know the pharmacy tends to know more about how to store meds sometimes.

The doctor typed us up a quick little note about the medications and how they needed to be stored/refrigerated. They've always been more than happy to do it.

We had no problem getting a free fridge in our room at Pop without a note. We just told them we needed one, and then called again the week that we were going to remind them. They had it in the room waiting for us. My son didn't need it for meds, but for his food and special calorie formula. He has over 20 food allergies that he has been tested for, and about to go through more tests. I was worried since we didn't need it for meds, that they wouldn't give it to us for free but they did and were so nice about it.

We usually get a medical needs fridge when we stay at the values and we have not had any problems until our last trip in September. I made sure to confirm at check-in that we were to have a fridge for my husband's meds (he is diabetic). It was waiting in our room.
When it came time for check-out, I saw that we had been billed daily for the fridge. I just went to the front desk, showed them the bill, and reminded them that the fridge was for my diabetic DH and that we had requested it for medical purposes. The charge was immediately credited to our account with many apologies.
