Medical people, I have a question

I have a fractured sternum, as a result of a car accident I had earlier this week. When the emergency room dr. told me, he described it as "broken" but the CT scan showed no damage to anything behind the sternum.

How long will I be in pain/uncomfortable? They said it takes 4-6 weeks to heal. I am not in terrible pain now, but it is uncomfortable and I'm scared I might overexert myself and hurt myself more. What can/can't I do?

If they told you it takes 4-6 weeks to heal, then you can expect discomfort for 4-6 weeks, in lessening intensity as time goes on.

Have you asked your doc about physical limitations during the healing process?
