Medals Don't Make a President

The issue is simply, "I like Bush" or "I like Kerry".

I like Kerry!

But I don't feel it is necessary to argue the lack of President Bush combat service.

ITA !::yes::

Hey Poochie, you are too much!!! :D

Your post cracked me up! Thanks for the laugh. :D

And Bush fled, then lied.

Where did he flee to? Joining the armed services is not fleeing, it is serving.
What id he lie about?
So are you going to bring up the Dem lie that he is a deserter? If so, then please show proof by referring to copies of documents declaring him a deserter.

Now explain to me why the Dem's said military service is not important for a president when Clinton was running, but they are making a big deal out of Kerry serving active duty while Bush served in the guard.

If so, then please show proof by referring to copies of documents declaring him a deserter.

I'd settle for a site, much like Kerry provides, that details (with documentation) Bush's supposed service record.

Actually, I don't much care what Bush did to get out of serving in Vietnam. But, when the Republicans want to trash Kerry for serving his country, then Bush's paltry record is fair game.

As other more reasonable conservatives have said, Bush and his henchmen would do well to leave the subject of military service alone.

Medals Don't Make a President

And neither does Daddy's money, cronies, connections, and a 1-vote majority decision in the Supreme Court.

The current crop of Republicans questioning John Kerry's medals would give their left eyeball if Bush had just one of those medals.

Bush joined the National Guard which was the hangout for rich boys who wanted to avoid service in Viet Nam.

Whether or not he showed up for duty in Alabama?

Please, by all mean, let's see Bush's undoctored service documents.

Bill Clinton avoids mililtary service and the Republicans call him a draft dodger.

George Bush runs for cover in the National Guard and Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, and the rest of this chickenhawk administration avoid military service, and what do the Republicans do........they throw bricks at Kerry's military service, medals, etc.

Good Lord..............

Interesting, that's quite a laundry list........seems things must really bad for Bush considering Kerry is that wrong about
everything, yet Bush is still only even at best in the polls.

Look out for the Karl Rove and co. slime throwing machine
to really kick up in the next couple of months.

And the good people of Missouri preferred a corpse over John Ashcroft.

Voted against ban on sending money to UN population fund -- the money was sent to pay for China's forced abortion and sterilization policy

from the United Nations Population Fund website (www.unfpa.org): "No. The Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo, Egypt, in 1994 states that abortion should not be promoted as a method of family planning. UNFPA fully subscribes to this and does not provide support for abortion services. We work to prevent abortion through family planning, and to help countries provide services for women suffering from the complications of unsafe abortion."

Support re-raising taxes on the wealthy to redistribute money for healthcare and education -- i.e., Socialism

from www.dictionary.com: "Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy."
You might not agree with raising the taxes (actually just rolling back the tax cuts at this point) on the wealthiest Americans to help fund healthcare and education for the poorest, but it isn't socialism.

Claim to be able to stop outsourcing and create 10 million new jobs in four years, despite the fact that there are only about 8 million unemployed people in the U.S.

www.factcheck.org does a good job of explaining this one (http://www.factcheck.org/SpecialReports.aspx?docid=178). It boils down to the fact that while there are 8.4 million officially "unemployed" people, there are also 4.9 million people willing to take a job but who haven't actively looked for work within the time-frame allowed by the survey. Take a look at the article--and their statistics check out with those at the Bureau of Labor statistics (www.bls.gov).

Want to raise the minimum wage, which will result in outsourcing and the loss of jobs
This is an opinion not a fact. Some economists believe this is true and some don't. If you are going to present it as a fact, you should be able to back it up.

Voted at least 5 times against balanced budget amendments
There are some valid reasons to vote against a balanced budget amendment. The fact is that Bill Clinton started office with a large deficit (primarily created by Reagan and Bush 1) and created a large surplus. According to msnbc.com "...a 10-year budget outlook that in 2001 projected $5.6 trillion in surpluses now foresees $2.7 trillion in deficits, an unprecedented fiscal swing." So Bush started with a record surplus and has turned it into a record deficit.

Voted at least 5 times to raid the Social Security Trust Fund
I'm not sure what you're talking about here, so please explain.

Favor UN control of remaining U.S. Troops
I haven't been able to find anywhere that John Kerry proposes this. Please let me know where you found it.

Support submitting completely to the UN, as well as the International Criminal Court, taking all sovereignty away from the U.S. and its citizens
You CAN'T be serious. But yes, please show me where John Kerry has made this suggestion.

As for the other bits, much of it either seemed silly (John Kerry has no values) or it was something I agreed with or wasn't very concerned about. I really would like to see where some of these facts are from.

snoozn

How come that conservatives are so fond of digging in Kerry's past and bashing him for a thing they would praise a republican for (His medals).
At least he was no drunk, and I also have the firm belief that he can eat a pretzel without help ;)

IMHO it is much more honorable to get a military citation than a ticket for DUI :teeth:

I swiped your list, Frank Babaganoush, and made it into a list of reasons why I want to vote for John Kerry. There wasn't much I had to edit. ;)
