Voted against ban on sending money to UN population fund -- the money was sent to pay for China's forced abortion and sterilization policy
from the United Nations Population Fund website (
www.unfpa.org): "No. The Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo, Egypt, in 1994 states that abortion should not be promoted as a method of family planning. UNFPA fully subscribes to this and does not provide support for abortion services. We work to prevent abortion through family planning, and to help countries provide services for women suffering from the complications of unsafe abortion."
Support re-raising taxes on the wealthy to redistribute money for healthcare and education -- i.e., Socialism
from
www.dictionary.com: "Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy."
You might not agree with raising the taxes (actually just rolling back the tax cuts at this point) on the wealthiest Americans to help fund healthcare and education for the poorest, but it isn't socialism.
Claim to be able to stop outsourcing and create 10 million new jobs in four years, despite the fact that there are only about 8 million unemployed people in the U.S.
www.factcheck.org does a good job of explaining this one (
http://www.factcheck.org/SpecialReports.aspx?docid=178). It boils down to the fact that while there are 8.4 million officially "unemployed" people, there are also 4.9 million people willing to take a job but who haven't actively looked for work within the time-frame allowed by the survey. Take a look at the article--and their statistics check out with those at the Bureau of Labor statistics (
www.bls.gov).
Want to raise the minimum wage, which will result in outsourcing and the loss of jobs
This is an opinion not a fact. Some economists believe this is true and some don't. If you are going to present it as a fact, you should be able to back it up.
Voted at least 5 times against balanced budget amendments
There are some valid reasons to vote against a balanced budget amendment. The fact is that Bill Clinton started office with a large deficit (primarily created by Reagan and Bush 1) and created a large surplus. According to msnbc.com "...a 10-year budget outlook that in 2001 projected $5.6 trillion in surpluses now foresees $2.7 trillion in deficits, an unprecedented fiscal swing." So Bush started with a record surplus and has turned it into a record deficit.
Voted at least 5 times to raid the Social Security Trust Fund
I'm not sure what you're talking about here, so please explain.
Favor UN control of remaining U.S. Troops
I haven't been able to find anywhere that John Kerry proposes this. Please let me know where you found it.
Support submitting completely to the UN, as well as the International Criminal Court, taking all sovereignty away from the U.S. and its citizens
You CAN'T be serious. But yes, please show me where John Kerry has made this suggestion.
As for the other bits, much of it either seemed silly (John Kerry has no values) or it was something I agreed with or wasn't very concerned about. I really would like to see where some of these facts are from.
