When Meatloaf was introduced I told the kids (9 and 6) that this guy was a great singer. Memories of "Bat Out of Hell" swirled thru my mind, etc etc. About half way thru the sing DD9 looks over at me and said "You are kidding, right?"

Awwwwwww, why's everybody hatin' on Meat?

Maybe he had a cold or a sinus infection. I still loved the performance. I actually squealed a little when I saw him stride out with that signature scarf in his hand. All that was missing was the "poofy" shirt and the long, long hair.

I loved the way he stalked the stage.....such power and intensity! There hasn't been that much raw, animal energy on that stage since.......well, since never.

Katherine did look scared of him. I asked hubby, "Don't you think her parents might have warned her of how he was?"

I didn't watch AI last night, I just caught highlights after the show. Our local Fox affiliate had a reporter interviewing whoever they could grab (literally) and when the reporter was talking to Meat Loaf he said he fainted as soon as he left the stage? Did he really? She seemed concerned about him. The footage I saw was just about 10 seconds of the song, but it wasn't pretty! Maybe he was just trying to struggle through so he wouldn't pass out on stage!

Well, only caught my tivo few minutes while paging thru to the end.

Meat sounded terrible, but I told DH that I thought he looked better than he had 10 years ago. I thought he'd had some serious plastic surgery done.

Prince looked great...definitely some good plastic surgery there. I know he's short, but why put him between two women in heels? He looked like a midget!

OK - Is it just me or did he sound absolutely god-awful last night?

I haven't read this whole thread, but just wanted to note, it wasn't just Meatloaf that sounded bad...it was his singing partner as well. Luckily she didn't win cuz she just can't sing!

btw....my DD4 thought it was hilarious that some guys name was meatloaf.
