Meatloaf has horrible stage fright

I thought Dionne Warwick's performance was very Classy. Such an effortless quality to her voice.

I could not help but think Dionne has known for years that Taylor would win, what with her Psychic Network connections. :smooth:

Wasn't she gross though? I rewatched that and was sorry I did!

Personally I think it is an excuse for a horrid performance.

My friend who was there said he avoided reporters like the plague.

Nope Meatloaf has horrid stage fright. This is nothing new, in fact it is old news. It killed his career when he was at his highest.

yep very old news. He even lost his voice at one point due to severe anxiety attacks caused by stage fright.
I think that was the first time he has performed live since his marriage ended. From my understanding his wife was his "rock" that helped him get through the anxiety attacks.

Then why would you say ok to preforming on a show that has million of viewers? I've seen him live and preform live on TV award shows and he has always been fine.

I have never heard of him having stage fright. I have googled and read several online bios and no where does it mention stage fright. There is pleanty of mentions of his stage work (Hair and Rocky Horror) as well as many other live TV appearances mentioned.

I think if I suffered from stage fright I would not have agreed to be on a show with thousands in the audience and millions watching on TV.

Well, I'm sure there was a little something in it for him.

Cha ching - you gotta do what you gotta do.

According to IMBD he was divorced in 2001 yet Wikipedia has him on a sold out tour in 2005 and even details a November 17, 2003 colapse on stage where afterwards he was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (which surgery corrected).

I like Meat Loaf and I actually didn't think his performance was THAT bad but this is a man who has performed thousands of live shows, done numerous TV appearances and Broadway theater and I'm not willing to believe that stage fright alone was the reason his AI performanace wasn't up to par.

I've heard about it for yrs. He's even talked about it in the past (might have been on VHS storytellers) and it is covered in the biographical movie about him.

Many performers have spoken about their stage fright/anxieties/fear of crowds/public speaking etc. Sometimes they can have it under control for yrs, before having a relapse.

I think his divorce is a bit more recent than 2001, but I do now remember he toured in 2003. I believe news of the divorce was released around that time (of course the divorce could have taken place beofre then)

I don't buy it either. Not after all his years in the business. :rolleyes2 Looked to me like he had a nasty case of the DT's.

I still love Meatloaf's voice no matter what. :thumbsup2

HOT PATOOTIE BLESS MY SOUL..I really love that rock and roll :cool1:

I remember him best from the Rocky Horror picture show.

I thought he looked pretty wigged out. And then it sounded kinda scary. But then most of the pairings they had weren't quite right. Didn't seem like they were harmonizing. But what do I know?
