I can't buy the meat in the tubes either - but my DH did buy this meat in a tube when we went shopping at the Commissary. I will not eat it!
I buy all my meat at Costco - but I did notice in Costco the other day they had ground beef in a see thru tube that was frozen. I think there were 4 tubes in a bag. I still couldn't buy that.

I have never heard of it before. Is it frozen or is it in the meat section of the supermarket.
I can't do it either. Meat in a tube totally grosses me out also. We first saw it several years ago while on vacation in New Mexico. Now it's pretty much all our grocery stores carry. I can't do it. I now buy all beef at a local butcher shop where they know exactly where the meat is coming from. It is slightly more expensive, but I really don't care! Am I am really tight with money!
, and it's always a perfect pound, which many recipes call for. So many of the stores near us started packaging their ground beef as more than a pound, like 1.4 pounds or 1.6 pounds. It's annoying. Not enough to split into 2 pounds and freeze, but too much for a one-pound recipe. The only difference I notice from the styrofoam packaged ground beef is that the tubed beef seems to be ground coarser.
