Mears vs Towncar

We booked our vacation package through a travel agent. Our package includes Mears Shuttle (all paid for). I'm thinking of changing to a towncar through FL Tours. We are traveling with our 10 month old son, and I'm just not looking foward to all those stops with the shuttle. I just want to head straight to the hotel without stopping everywhere, not having to lug my carseat, and maybe making the free 30 minute grocery stop (which means less luggage)... Does anyone know if I can just call Mears to cancel and get refunded, or do I have to do it through my travel agent (will be charged a cancel/change fee from travel agent).

Thanx!

You shouldn't have to call Mears. The packages include a voucher which you exchange at a counter in the airport. You may get lucky and be the first stop on the bus, but I wouldn't count on it. We did a package in 2001 (before I found the boards) and used Mears. We didn't have any problems, but I will never use them again. We used Tiffany Towncar last year and it was wonderful. The grocery store was very nice. I am sure the towncar would be great if you are traveling with an infant. I would check with your travel agent to see if they can upgrade you to a towncar service. If you can't get upgraded or you can't cancel that, I would still consider the town car. They are usually around $80 roundtrip, which may be worth it if you plan on utilizing the grocery stop and are worried about travelling with your son.

Hope this helps.

Your travel agent should be able to take this off your package at no charge and credit you the difference.

I am a towncar person all the way!!
We used to use Mears back when we didn't know any better. We received coupons with our Disney reservation confirmations, so we took the shuttle. Then we learned about towncars, and now we always use Happy Limo. No more being packed in with a crowd and suffering through multiple stops for us! You will find a towncar much easier and more enjoyable.
Your travel agent should definitely be able to take care of things for you. Disney Cruise Line added transfers to one of our cruises a few months ago, and I hadn't even realized it. Our great agent from DU caught it and took care of having it removed with no problem.

Thank you everyone for your advice! I went ahead and booked a town car (FL Tours). I'm very excited, and definitley think I made a good choice. I don't think stopping everywhere with a cranky 10 month old would've been too much fun. (For us, or the other passengers.) Thanx again!
