mears vs towncar pickup times

In the UG and on these boards I have read that Mears may require you be ready for pickup WAY before your flight leaves. Since we want to get all we can out of our last day, would a towncar be more "agreeable" to when we want to leave the hotel? The flight leaves out at 8:20. I thought we could leave the hotel at 6:00, get to the airport around 6:30 and have plenty of time. I am just afraid that Mears might want to pick us up 4ish or so. any thoughts? thanks

Hi Hogfan,

If you take a towncar, you can definitely tell them what time you want to be picked up.

I'm not sure Mears would want to pick you up 4.5 hours before your flight, but they would definitely want to pick you up before 6 (and you would want to be picked up by Mears before 6, since they make so many stops!).

Using the Towncar would be best in your case. It's dedicated to only you and so will be ready at the time you designate.
MEARS, on the other hand, has a round of resorts to pick up and so you will be adding in that time as well. We've done both and I will not do MEARS again for that reason.
It takes about 60 minutes from most resorts to either airport (MCO or Sanford) so figure that in plus wanting to be at the airport a good 60-90 minutes prior to your flight.
We prefer the personalized service a towncar or limo gives us. Just don't want to be herded into a bus with dozens of others, but that's our choice.

No, it's about 30-40 minutes by towncar, depending on the traffic. It would take longer if you were driving and not clear on where to return the car, dropping off the car, taking a shuttle bus back to the terminal, etc..
