MEARS Scooter Services - A Few Questions

You reserve a shuttle. On one of the later screens you specify the number of wheelchairs. You'll pay the shuttle price, even if you get a private van.

Mears taxi charged us an average of $67.00 to go from Disney to Universal for 2 people and one scooter. We set an appointment for both pick up. It was easy and convenient. They were there on time to and from.

You paid the regular taxi fare.
Mears also runs shared shuttle service. Anyone can book Mears from their WDW resort to Universal parks, not the resorts. You have to reserve a set time, last time I checked morning pickup is 7,8,9a. Fare is $12 per person. That's the fare, even if they dispatch a van with only 1 or 2 pax.

Thanks! Just want to be more specific in case that is important -my & my scooter will be heading FROM Aventura @ Universal 9am-ish TO WDW park in the morning - myself & scooter returning in the evening from another WDW park back TO Aventura 9pmish. I imagine that it's the same as booking a WDW resort to Universal park - but just wanted to clarify.

Just go on Mears sites Near the top is a generic icon to make a reservation. Next screen is
https://reserve.mearstransportation.com/#/Pick your hotel, atteaction and date. It.will give you a choice of pickup times. You specify #of pax and wheelchairs.

Theoretically you could be.picked up by a bus with a lift. More likely a van. Maybe just your group. Maybe others
You pay shuttle price

Or you can request an accessible taxi van and pay taxi pricing

Anyone have experience with two people, both with scooters. Going from time share to Dolphin. Will we have to travel separately?

DH and I have not found any solutions that are available for two Scooters, except when the Minnie Vans were running and thst only worked on property of course.

How are you getting to your timeshare?

Mears accessible might work if one of your scooters was a.go go which you already dissasembled. Would only work if you didn't have a lot of luggage.

Do you need a scooter at all times? The company you rented from might be willing to move your scooter for a reasonable fee

Wow this is mighty confusing. I agree the Minnie Vans were a valuable service and should be brought back.
Currently I suspect Mears is having the same industry problem with hiring and customer service since I see their blinking advertisement :Now Hiring in the Celebration area…
Hope you arrive with a lot of patience.
Otherwise try to study and understand your options. It helps to arrive with the mindset…I am in Disney time and long lines everywhere…
With my limited experience , I would accept and rely on Disney transportation first On property.
Does anybody have more info about the Uber / Lyft Accessible Service?

Uber and Lyft do not offer accessible service in the Orlando area unfortunately.

I have recently seen the Vans on Disney property.
Perhaps they were specifically arrivingwith passengers from the airport.

Well that would certainly be new and welcome, but my guess is they are only testing, as I can't find one.

Also, it doesn't look like Orlando is listed as an available city yet.

I don't think Minnie Vans ever offered transportation between offsite property and a Disney resort. Call Mears and ask what they can do for you

No. They didn't, but they were handy onsite.on-site. MEARS only handles one scooter per vehicle.

Renting a car from mco to timeshare. Renting from Gold mobility who will drop off at bell services at timeshare. They are the one who suggested Mears taxi service from timeshare to Dolphin. If they picked up scooter at timeshare and delivered to dolphin, the price doubles. They would charge for another week. I don't mind waiting for accessible taxi. And we have the pride not the go go. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this. Think I will try other rental companies

In our experience all of them will be similar on the pick up and delivery to two locations, mainly because everyone is so short staffed, but you might get lucky. If you are only transporting one scooter, an accessible Taxi will be easy. It is if you need to transport two that it becomes hard.

You could also call both the time share and the Dolphin and see if either of them have a different solution.

Just thought I would update you all on our experiences with Mears taxi service and 2 ECV'S.
First of all, we rented a car to get from MCO to Orange Lake Country Club. Gold Mobility (highly recommend) delivered our scooters.
I called Mears 2 days before our transfer to the Dolphin and this wonderful man Leslie was right on time. He took my husband first and then came back for me.
He then gave me his phone number which I used to call him for transfer to Universal's Cabana Bay. Again he was right on time and had arranged for another Mears driver so my husband and I would arrive together.
Yes we paid for 4 taxi rides but no stress at all.
So if you lucky to get Leslie from Mears, he is a gem.

Mears is a great service to moving the scooters. We never have any issues.
