Prior to the inception of Disney's ME service, I had arranged for Mears shuttle to pick up my in-laws with a meet and greet on May 29. Right after ME became available I received an e-mail notice from Mears that Disney was offering a free shuttle service and that if I wanted I could call to cancel the Mears service. Because it was my in-laws first flight and that they would arrive before me I thought the meet and greet would be best so I didn't cancel my paid for service.

Well, less than 24-hrs before pick up my in-laws had a question that I couldn't answer. :confused3 I called Mears Customer Service and was told that their shuttles would not be able to travel on Disney property since the ME so they couldn't pick up my in-laws. I proceeded to read the e-mail that I had received to the Customer Service rep and noted that it did not address this issue. What would I have done with the in-laws stuck at MCO without transportation? She goes on to say that we could upgrade at a higher cost to towncar service.

That wasn't good enough for me because I couldn't trust them after their vague e-mail so I totally cancelled and called a couple services. Since it was less than 24 hr notice a couple couldn't handle it but Tiffany Town Car came through and at a lower cost than Mears!

The in-laws were pleased and I was happy, too! :Pinkbounc

On May 19 (having some extra time before my flight home) I was passing through the ME area at the airport and asked at the regular Mears desk what the cost of transportation to Disney was. THey quoted a fare, I think it was $17. one way and $29. round trip. So at least then I suspected that regular Mears service to Disney still existed.

I didn't know Mears offered a "meet and greet" service with their shuttle service.

Some guests book Mears when they book their rooms. I think some of those guests may not be aware of ME and emails may get caught in the bulk folder. There has to be a procedure to handle those, few, guests with a Mears reservation who show up at MCO. My guess is they'll be transported on ME buses. The question is will they get a refund.
