Mears & an ECV??

We're bringing our own personal ECV to WDW with us. There is no way that all five of us, luggage, and the ECV can fit in our car.

We have one FF ticket so we're going to use that to get one of us and the ECV to Orlando.

The flight we'll use will arrive several hours before the folks driving.

My question is, will the standard Mears fare get a person and an ECV to WDW or will special arrangements need to be made??

Our other alternative would be to get a one day rental car. Would someone at the rental car company be willing to assist lifting the heaviest portion of the ECV into the trunk???

Any help or previous experience any of you have had in this area would be appreciated!

We had checked with Mears about accessibility because we were thinking about bringing our DD's power wheelchair with us when we came in March. Didn't end up bringing it, so I don't have any experience, but here's what I found out.
Mears does have wheelchair accessible ramp or lift vans available. The price per person is the same as Mears regular fare. I don't know if they have any other arrangements for ecvs, since you wouldn't actually need the ramp and wheelchair tiedowns. They were responsive quickly to email and answered my questions well. You don't need to make reservations ahead of time, but they said it would be better to do that to avoid a wait. Someone had posted about a year ago that they used Mears with a power wheelchair and were pleased with the service.

Yellow Cab has several Voyager sized vans with lowered floor at the rear and wheelchair tie downs. They will hold 4 passengers plus one regular size wheelchair or one passenger plus a wide sized chair.

Mears will work a treat with an ECV. I use Mears every trip with my power chair. Same cost as the regular bus, but like as not you will be the only passenger. Bus price:taxi service <g>.

Mears will use a small van with a tail lift, big enough to lift an ECV.

Yellow cabs (owned by Mears as well) have a few Ford Galaxies with a ramp in the rear that will take a chair or ECV. I thought they were Voyages when I used them last, but I re-checked my photos!!

I sometimes have to wait 'till a wheelchair bus gets back to the airport, but most times one is pparked up waiting for me (I book in advance). If you are arriving several hours ahead of the rest of your party, it wouldn't be worth paying the extra for a taxi.

This will make our trip so much easier!! We were planning on taking two cars, but our second car has a small engine and can't cruise the highway as well, so it would take a couple hours extra in driving time and cost about double in gas.

Hubby, BIL and the boys can drive down in our car, I can fly down with the ECV, get us checked in the room and that way when the rest of the family arrives 1am ish, they can come straight to the room and we can get to bed that much earlier to be at Epcot when they open at 10!!
