MeanLaureen's Useless Poll of the Day - Weds!!

If you could retire in a life of leisure - where would it be?

  • Somewhere in the mountains, deep in the woods

  • On the beach on the East coast where the summers are warm and the winters have a chill in the air

  • On the beach on the west coast where every day is warm and the waves are ready for surfing

  • On a private island in the Florida Keys - I've had enough of dealing with people all my life

  • In a cozy cabin somewhere in New England near a great skiing area

  • In downtown New York in a great penthouse near Central Park - love the hustle and bustle of the big

  • In a small midwestern town - population 500. Nothing like a small rural community and the togethern

  • Somewhere in the south of France

  • Aloha - I'm heading for Hawaii

  • G'day mates - I would love to retire in the "land down under"

  • I could spend my days living in jolly old England

  • A nice cozy cottage in a vineyard in Italy would suit me just right

If you could retire and live a life of leisure in any of these areas - which one would you pick? And I purposely didn't add DISNEYWORLD! (I didn't get the name MeanLaureen for nothin')

I voted for a New York City penthouse - if I ever win the lotto, that is where I'm headed. :)

In reality, though, I would never want to be poor and live in NYC, so we will probably end up somewhere on the beach in an affordable area when we retire.

My first answer would have been WDW.

I already live at the beach and used to want to retire in New Hampshire but now I'm not sure I want to deal with that much cold so I picked the Keys.

The only thing mean about you Lauri, is your username.

LMAO!!! You might want to ask Matthew about that one!! I didn't give the name to myself!!

sheesh.. just because I thought it would be funny to yank the elastic in his pajama pants out as far as it would go and let it go at 3am, he calls me mean...

Remind me never to sleep in the same room as you, Lauri....!!!

DH and I are planning to retire near WDW, but since SOMEONE(!) didn't add it to the list, I picked Hawaii - warm year-round!!

He probably deserved it.:teeth: I've heard people from Georgia need to be yanked around from time to time.:p

I'll take the mountains, deep in the woods. Perhaps for 3 of the 4 seasons, then FL for the winter! :) I'm not choosing FL year round since I've been here 15 years and MISS THE MOUNTAINS and FALL COLORS!! :teeth:

Doing the small midwestern town thing now and HATE it!

Since WDW isn't an option I choose to dream of Italy. Ciao amico

I chose a beach on the East Coast. I'd love to be a beach bum with not much to worry about.

I chose a beach a the east coast. The beach is so relaxing ,love the sights and smells of the ocean.

I chose a beach on the west coast. I want to get away from the cold and snow.

Why am I not surprised that the majority of us chose an East Coast beach?;)

Closest possible choice near WDW of course.:D

Just voted for the land down under......however it would be specifically New Zeland.

People.....haven't you seen Lord of the Rings!? New Zeland has everything, climatically speaking. And I love the accent.
