No actually..

I just got off the phone w/ Lauri and Matt....Gaston left his mark in Va w/ flooding (up to 14")
and power outages...and they were one of the unfortunate ones to be left w/o power...

They did get some water in the basement, but as far as they can see right now that is all the damage...except that their power will be out until at least 11pm tonight..

They wanted everyone on the boards to know that they are all right...but for obvious reasons won't be posting until their power is restored...

It's too bad that Ed may be in meetings all day....just think of the things he could get away with, and Mean Laureen couldn't edit him
:p

Just spoke to the two of them and they agreed I will take over the moderating position for them both during this hour of need.

Manny is here by banned until further notice as we can’t have guys in here funnier than me. He was my only concern at the moment Jeff tries but it's not the same.

Cyn and Pam are hereby voted the official DIS hotties.

And Heather is voted most likely not to get sponsored or be a sponsoree :teeth:

You will all from this point refer to me as El Mariachi que es mui macho. Or #6 for short.

And from now on when you log on to the Dis. You will hear the national anthem from my native home of Australia, and will not be allowed to post until the Wallaby hops through your screen.

You will all now repeat after me Australia Australia Australia WE LOVE YOU… Amen.

This sounds like the election process in FL!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I was left in charge, since Ed is in meetings all day!!!
The only thing I have to say to all the other mods is, don't you touch my posts!!!!!!......or there's 'gonna be one ticked off Cuban-Australia to answer to!!!!

Thank god there is still power In NH.

You love me, you REALLY love me! (So nice to be remembered!
However, I stagger in wondering if this is how I was remembered
before Nat hit the edit button! LOL)

Just remember "#6"... Johnny #5 is alive and he is
coming to get 'cha! He needs input!

I see Mean Laureen and Obi Wan are not the only ones who got too much water. Seems Raul's brain is underwater too. Maybe Lauri can bring down the sump pump next week and dry the boy out.

Jeff

Do you really think it was Gaston. He's probably eating his two dozen eggs! I think it was Mordecai trying to stop our heros from getting together, or maybe he enlisted the help of Gaston.

A new conspiracy theory to banty about.

We're BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!:teeth: :Pinkbounc   :wave2:

Okay, yesterday was a really freaky day. To add to what Jeff said in a previous post --- no one blows like Gaston, no one rains like Gaston, no one decides to park himself over Richmond and dump 12 to 14 inches of water like Gaston.

Highways flooded under up to 5 feet in some places, roads washed away, serious flooding in Shockoe Bottom downtown. Yesterday I got home to no power, water in the basement that eventually reached about 1.5 to 2 inches, and four dogs that, when I opened the door to let them out to do their business, looked at me like "are you nuts??? I'm not going out in that!!"

We got power back about 9:00 AM. I've been spending my morning and will be spending my afternoon using the shop vac getting the water up. Thankfully a good 99% of things down there are stored in Rubbermaid totes. Quite a bit of the water has receded, but ast night I opened the door from the basement to the back yard and water just flowed out. At the same time I thought "cool!" and "good grief, that's a lot of water in the basement!"

Matt and Lauri, glad you are both safe, but geez, saw the downtown of Richmond on the news....what a mess! You have really been beaten these past 2 yrs water wise.

I know all about the dogs giving the 'YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING LOOK!"...but at least I only have one to worry about! :D

Uhmmm Mathew as temp moderator I'm asking you nice to edit your own post and remove the reference at the end of line 1.

I have my finger on the webmaster hotline button, and I will use it.

I've already reported Nat for violation of the edit Ed or Manny laws, and you will be next my friend.

You have 30 seconds to comply. :teeth:

Nothing but love for you man nothing but love.

Important safety tip, connect the hose of the shop vac to the input connection not the output connection. Trust me on this. If you use the output, you'll turn your basement into a jacuzzi . Also, if you want to pick the water up quicker, hook the vacuum up to the dryer plug. I mean you are trying to dry stuff right? Don't worry if the plugs look different on the vacuum, you can use some pliers to bend the prongs so they fit. And you probably should wear rubber boots when you do that because you don't want to get shocked when you are standing in the water when you turn it on.

You said not to. It is like telling a kid don't touch that candy.

Matt & Lauri, I saw some awful pictures on TV today of the Richmond area. I am glad you are both safe, but I know first hand how devastating a hurricane can be in the mid-Atlantic. I'm glad your electricity is back. It is amazing the things we take for granted & then do not have when the power is out.

Please learn how to spell "Australian" when trying to spell correctly!

Let's all drive (or sail or swim) over and join them in their basement resort! ::yes::  :teeth: :earseek: :boat: :moped:

They just showed pics of downtown Richmond.....if it weren't for the motor cars piled on top of each other, I would think it was a pic of colonial town....mud everywhere....what a mess!!!! Matt & Lauri..is it like that in your neighborhood??? the mud I mean..not the cars piled on top of each other...I hope both your vehicles made it ok
