Hi,

My DH and I have only been to WDW once and that was a few weeks ago right before Hurricane Frances hit. I was wondering if any of the hotels had good meals. We stayed at the POR and enjoyed the hotel, but hated the food. We walked over to POFQ one morning for breakfast and didn't care for the food over there either. Our food was always cold and not very good. My DH got pizza one night, and you could tell that it was frozen because the bottom was really soggy. Like it still needed to cook some. We would like to go back to WDW, but we would like to find a hotel that has fairly good food choices. We are not worried about price at this time.
I have looked at the menus that are available and things look good, I was just wanting to know from some of you how you felt.

Thanks!

JH

Jiko and Boma are really good at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Contemporary has California Grill and Chef Mickey's...

Grand FLoridian has like 5 different sit down type places if you're wanting to avoid soggy pizza :)

You probably can't go wrong with a deluxe if you were disappointed with the moderate food.

Another option is to eat in the parks ... for example Epcot has a lot of good restaurants.

If you don't have park access, go the Boardwalk area and eat somewhere like spoodles. :)

We never let food choices dictate where we stay, because WDW has over 300 restaurants and snack options to choose from!!!

We usually stay at All-Stars and the only meal we have there is usually a quick banana and bagel on the way to the bus stop.

Some excellent restaurants all around WDW that we have eaten at:

Chef Mickeys - Contemporary
Grand Floridian Cafe - Grand Floridian
California Grill - Contemporary
Ohannas - Polynesian
Liberty Tree Tavern - Magic Kingdom
Tony's - Magic Kingdom
Crystal Palace - Magic Kingdom
Cindarella's Castle, Dinner - Magic Kingdom
Whispering Canyon Cafe - Wilderness Lodge
Trails End Buffet - Ft. Wilderness Resort
Garden Grill - Epcot
Coral Reef - Epcot
San Angel Inn - Epcot
Akershus - Epcot
Biergarten Cafe - Epcot
Rose & Crown - Epcot
Le Cellier - Epcot
Cape May Buffet - Beach Club
Yacht Club Galley - Yacht Club
Spoodles - Boardwalk
Big River Grille & Brewing Works - Boardwalk
Flying Fish - Boardwalk
Boma - Animal Kingdom Lodge - Breakfast
Olivia's - Old Key West
Rainforest Cafe - Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom
Brown Derby - Disney Studios
50's Prime Time - Disney Studios
Sci-Fi Drive Inn - Disney Studios
Pepper Market - Coronado Springs
1900 Park Faire - Grand Floridian
Kona Cafe - Polynesian
Planet Hollywood - Downtown Disney

I have not had a bad meal at any of these places. The food was delicious at each and every one of them.

I agree .... there are too many great restaurants in WDW to only eat at the resort you are staying at.

We pick the resort on discounts available and past history at that resort.

Thanks everyone for your help. The only reason that we were looking for meals at the resorts is because we like to eat breakfast before we go into the parks. Just something that we have done forever in Disneyland. Plus we are pretty picky eaters and eating the same thing over and over gets old. This year in WDW we ate hot dogs and french fries for almost every lunch and dinner meals.

Thanks again! the info is greatly appreicated.

We stayed at the Beach Club recently. One of the reasons I chose to stay there was because it's very centrally located and there are many restaurant choices. We were very close to the Boardwalk and Swan and Dolphin resorts. You could either walk to the other hotels or take a short boat ride over. I highly recommend either the Yacht or Beach Club resort if you want to be near a variety of places to eat.

If you are not concerned about price and want good food, you may want to consider the Poly. The Kona Cafe has excellent meals (B, L & D). We had lunch there 3 times and I didn't get sick of it at all. Ohanas is good for dinner too. Also, you can easily take the monorail over to the CR or the GF for good choices. I didn't like Captain Cooks (counter service) at the Poly. I think if you stick with the table service restaurants you will be much happier.
