Hi, new member here....we bought at SSR on Saturday, YIPPEE!

This was the second time through the presentation-while we wanted to join two years ago, it wasn't feasible. Here we are, happy to be in (and already talking about adding 100 more points in January!).

A question-both times, I had other DVC members ask me afterwards if they gave me meal vouchers. Never got them...is this just a sporadic thing?

I did get my other question answered. Another member thought I'd get the vacation AND the 1500 credit, it actually is an either/or proposition. I'll take the credit, thankyouverymuch.

Should I ask my sales guide if we were supposed to get the meal vouchers? Should I call him and give him our referral names? We talked about the referral, where they lived, but never gave their names.

We are new members too! We purchased on 10-28-04. We were not given any meal vouchers. I think that was just an incentive at one time to come and do the DVC tour. (They were the Q&C vouchers I think. )

We toured and bought last October and never received vouchers either. I didn't know anything about them until finding these forums and reading about so many others getting them.

We took the tour Oct. 2003, we did receive 4 meal vouchers, 1 for each of us 2 adults & 2 children.

Awhile back I read that they were offering fast passes to people who took the tour.

My take on this is that vouchers and other incentives (fast passes, etc.) are used to entice you into hanging around (or coming back) for a tour when they cannot immediately fit you in.

We were offered the vouchers at the DVC kiosk at the Boardwalk back in Oct 03 when we inquired about DVC (knew a lot about it already...wanted to take the tour). It was our last day and we needed to leave by 5. They had an opening at 2pm...so they sent us off to lunch with the meal vouchers to kill time until 2.

we got them when we did an add odd last year. It took awhile for them to finish up all our paperwork, the were short handed so they gave us vouchers. They were very unexpected but we did enjoy them!

When we did our add on in August we got 6 vouchers. I think it's up to the guide. I also got 6 SSR pins, and 6 BC pins, along with our $10 credit per point, and our two annual passes. Those last two I believe were for doing the add on. I know I will be using those meal vouchers in March, and probably at Beaches and Cream...YUMMMMM

We joined in December of 2000 - we paid cash to stay in a studio at VWL even though they hadn't had their grand opening yet. We asked at the DVC desk in the lobby if we could see any other room types, and the guide there said they we would have to go to the Boardwalk. He said "You might as well go check it out, they'll give you free lunch coupons just for looking around!".

Well, we ended up taking the whole tour and joining up. After being there for several hours doing all the paperwork and everything, DH says "We still get the free lunch, right?" I don't remember exactly what kind of voucher it was, but we went right over and used it at ESPN Zone because we were starving! I do remember that we got more food than the two of us could finish.

We took the tour last January (2004) and were promised meal vouchers but apparently somebody "forgot" because we never got them. Didn't care much, we already had plans for all the meals we had left that trip anyway, but later I thought I should have called and complained. Too late to worry about it now. We didn't buy that trip anyway...

We took the tour while staying at BWV in Feb 2004. They gave us 5 meal vouchers w/o committing to anything. We did purchase a few weeks later. I guess they knew they had us.

It was my understanding when we were there in June that the vouchers were offered to entice people to take the tour on week days after 10AM (i.e. while the parks are open and during non-peak hours for tours). Early mornings and weekends book up faster so no enticement would be required.

We did our tour on a Saturday, but still received 3 meal vouchers. Perhaps, because we did spend 5 hours there and did eventually buy in.

When I toured and bought last year they gave us fastpasses after the tour. No meal vouchers.

We got the meal vouchers because we agreed to take a tour after 10am, so i would have to agree with these being given to get people to tour during non peak, park open hours.

Definately at the disgretion of the Guide. We accompanied our best friends in March, when they bought from or Guide. He "bought our lunch" that day since they signed and after we had given them the info. He knows we can not recieve referral gifts in IN. and I think it was a nice gesture since we have sent several people his way and purchased 2 seperate contracts ourselves. We went right over to Beaches and Cream for a great lunch....it's not just for ice cream anymore!

Congratulations on your purchase. I dont think you will ever regret it. If you have never stayed in a DVC resort before, you are going to just love it.

We are going to be down there in early Dec. If you are going to be around, let me know. I would love to put a face with a name.

When we did the tour in July we got the fast passes and ice cream at the little ice cream shop at SSR. No meal vouchers. I thought they had discontinued them, or only gave them out for special circumstances.

We toured and bought our first in November of 2000. As an incentive to tour during the day we were given vouchers for lunch at Spoodles. Most expensive free meal I ever had.

Rwe,

Sure thing...pm me your dates. I'll be doing some of the Mousefest stuff early in the month and need to get cracking on a hotel ressie.

I think the clincher for DH was the day in an OKW studio during Hurricane Jeanne. Plus the impending work news, too. My cost analysis came down to 77 bucks a night over the 49 years :) !
