want to eat at Boatwrights but saw the menu and have a picky child on board. Would they be willing to swap a table service adult meal and let him get a burger from the child's menu? We don't mind the "loss" of the table service. Don't know how flexible DDP is.

Most ts restaurants will work with a picky eater (especially a kid who is only an adult by Disney definition) and allow adults to order items from the kids menu for ts meals. They typically create a larger plate/portion, and usually will ring it up as something else (as in, not charge the kids meal price), which doesn't really matter if you're on the ddp. He'll choose dessert from the adult menu, rather than get what chimes from the kids meal menu.

I have a very picky (and almost 40) friend who had chicken tenders at several ts restaurants during her trip.

Most restaurants will allow anyone to order from the kids' menu, but ask first because there have been reports of a few that did not.

If your child orders from the kids' menu you can ask about increasing the portion size for the entree if you are using an adult dining credit. If the restaurant will not upsize the entree consider paying OOP for the meal and save the adult credit for additional meals or 2 credit meals.

When using an adult credit, but ordering from the child's menu some will let you order the dessert from the adult menu while others will not. How flexible a restaurant can be is often based on whether it is Disney owned or a third party restaurant that gets reimbursed by Disney based on the rules of the dining plan.
