For our family of five it was REALLY worth it...but then again, we LOVE character dinners. We eat them for lunch and dinner every day we are at a Disney park(at Epcot and MK...at MGM we always have a sit down dinner at Hollywood and Vine and at AK we have breakfast with Donald Duck). We use the meals as our "down time" to relax and give our feet a rest. My boys are still of the age where seeing characters is a BIG draw so it's a good way to not have to wait in line to do that either. We loved the Disney dining plan since a big part of each of our Disney days is eating with our favorite characters. On our last trip this past September here is where we ate:
Check-in Night- CS Earl of Sandwhich DTD
Day 1-Chef Mickey's Buffet for dinner (spent day at Discovery Cove so we ate there for lunch)
Day 2-Crystal Palace for lunch Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner
Day 3-CS for lunch Garden Grill for dinner
Day 4- Donald's Breakfastasaurus for breakfast Crystal Palace for dinner
Day 5-Cinderella's for Lunch CS meal for dinner
Day 6-CS lunch and dinner at Blizzard Beach
Day 7-CS lunch Garden Grill-dinner
Day 8- CS meal at ASM for a very late dinner (spent the day at Sea World so we ate there for breakfast and lunch)
Day 9-CS lunch Hollywood and Vine for dinner
Day 10-CS lunch dinner-San Angelo(the only Disney meal we didn't enjoy)
Departure Day-CS breakfast
We ate up all of our credits for both table service and counter service meals with no problem. We just loaded up on drinks and snacks for the way home (we drove down) with our remaining snack credits. We ate every breakfast except for the day we at at Donald's Breakfastasaurus and departure day CS meal in our hotel room. We ate left overs from the previous day's meals and fresh fruit (something we always eat to start our days). The day we went to AK we headed back to our room for a late light lunch of fresh fruit and a nap and then headed over to MK for dinner and a late night of fun.
We LOVED eating out on the Disney Dining Plan...it saved our family a TON of money. But then again, like I mentioned before, we are a family that enjoys the time to rest at a sit down meal and we enjoy the characters and we would be paying a whole lot more to do the very same thing without the dining plan. It's a good thing for us.
**We don't "need" all of the food...but for a family who enjoys the resturant atmosphere at Disney and wants to have the down time to sit and relax it is a GREAT thing!
