Hi!
Just wondering if the "entree" consists of, say just a burger? or burger and fries? Would the fries be separate? Also, do these counter service meals come ala carte? or are there meal combos? Just trying to figure out if meal deal worth it. thanks!

I have never done the meal deal but was thinking about it for our upcoming March trip. I called US and talked with someone about this...the lady I spoke with said she did not think it was a good deal and that MANY people complained afterwards that it was a bad deal and not worth the money.

There is a list of eateries that you can eat at on the website for each park if you get this deal. It tells you waht kind of food they serve. I asked the ticketing lady on the phone if you could get anything at that particular place as long as it was one of the participating meal deal places. She told me ...no, you cann't get just anything and there is no list to look at beforehand. She said it changes and that when you walk into the place, there will be a sign that says what you can get.

This doe NOT include drinks either...not sure if you knew that.

She said she would wait until we are at the park and if we want to add it, we could do so there but she gets a lot of feedback from people who did not like it at all and wished they had never done it.

I am just passing the info I was given along to you...I have no personal experience whatsoever with it. My family has been several times over the past few years and we have always just purchased something there ourselves...in fact, we eat breakfast before we go to the park and then try to have a late lunch and snack later if we are hungry...so only one meal at the park really.

I asked her where she would eat if given the choice and she said City Walk.

Hope this helps...Kelly

Thank you!
I have been before but never used the meal deal-wonder why it's just for 3 locations at each park? Oh well! Thanks for the info!

Which number did you call kkendle? The last time I used the Meal Deal you were limited to only three meals per day, but the food wasn't bad. I hear nothing but good things about it now.

I selected the meal deal and put in in my cart and when I did, it takes you to another page where up at the top is a phone number to call...probably a general ticket number for park tickets, meal tickets, etc.

407-224-7840

The US web site gives the places you can eat and examples of what they may have. It also says you can eat from 11am-1/2 before the park closes....you can get food as much as you want at the participating places, but only 1 meal when you go through the line at a time....so after you eat, you could go back up and go through it again.

The lady I spoke with said that the selections change which is why they do not publish exactly what you can get on their website.

You know how it is sometimes....you call and someone answers and they tell you one thing, call and get someone else, and they tell you something else. She DID say many people were not happy with it once they got it...but if you have people that will eat fried foods like burgers and fries and that sort of thing at least twice, it may pay for itself. A lot of people do not like to eat that sort of thing multiple times a day.

She said to make sure it would pay for itself for you when you make that decision...you can look at menus online and see prices...most of the stuff I viewed at those places looked like it may be $8-9-10 for a meal but of course that varies considering what you get.

There are a lot of dining options when you consider both parks and City Walk. She was just telling me it may be a better decision to wait until we are there and then purchase it if we wanted. In fact, she was pretty insistent that we should NOT get it...again, just what she said.

To some people, this may be the best thing ever, for us....probably not. Again...I am certianly no expert since I have never done it, but I have researched it some and read what it says on the website and what the person told me.

Good luck....if any decide to do it...it would be neat to hear about how it worked out for them and if they were happy with it or would do it again!

There are limited restaurants in both parks that participate and except for Louie's at the Studios, there are much better places to eat. I would recommend Mythos and Thunder Falls Terrace at IOA and Finnegan's and Louie's at the Studios. Most regular meal portions are large enough to share but you can not share meals on the meal deal.

The other thing to consider when purchasing the meal deal are the park hours for that day. Reason being...if you eat a big lunch around noon and the park closing early...say 6 or 7pm, you may or may not be ready for another big meal for dinner. It depends on when you're going as to the park hours.

I guess the main thing is this: if you have people in your group that like to eat a lot, then it's probably a good deal. If you don't...probably not. You can purchase the meal deal at either park so you should definitely wait until you're there to decide. The price may have changed since I took this picture:

i've done the meal deal on occassions when i stay onsite for a week or more.
it does take time out of your day when you do the meal deal.
if you want more of something, you get back in line for a second round of food.

i only buy the meal deal if i am planning on not doing many rides that day in the park. i plan my grazing day by just walking around, taking pictures, doing the shows in the park and people watching.

on my last trips, i have been going when the parks close early in october.
9-5 (6 on non hhn nights) at the studios, 9-7 at ioa.

food places stop honoring the meal deal 30 minutes prior to park closing.
you can not get food to go in a package.

entree: if at IFFF, their entree of the chicken dinner is the chicken and 2 sides.
combo: hamburger and fries counts as the combo.

if you want more fries and go back through the line, you sometimes will get the entire entree again. it has happened.

check out the regular prices of the foods at the 3 restuarants and add them up.
if you think you will come out ahead by purchasing the meal deal, then go for it.
if you are going to the park when they have the longer hours, it can be worth it.

for me, i love Louie's and IFFF for counter food.
Mel's is not on my list for the studios.

i eat at 11 when Louie's opens.
if i want more than the one slice of pizza and salad, i do a repeat then.
I kill close to an hour there.

eat again around 3:45 at IFFF for the chicken dinner.

at this point, food is no longer on my mind.

but, i return to Louie's around 4:15 and get the pizza/salad.
i wrap it up and take it back to my room.

i come out ahead and save some $, not much though.

buy a mug at the park.
you can get the discounted refills on it at the counter places.
and, you can use that mug at any place in both parks on return visits.

the beverage deal promo they sell is for that day only.

if you are going when the park stays open to 8 or 9, the meal deal is a deal.
that is if you like the variety of food that is offered at the places participating.
