I just purchased the Meal Deal for 2 teenage boys - can you tell
me if you liked it and how it worked.
Thanks

Is it for the one or two parks? Is Citywalk added? We usually do this at least one day each trip. It starts at 11 a.m. and you can eat from a limited menu at three different resturants at each park. If Citywalk is added you can eat one meal at a choice of four different resturants there from 5-10 p.m. For teen-age boys you should definately get your moneys worth! You can go through as many times as you like. It was great for our son because he loves to eat. He would get a burger and then pizza then spaghetti then fried chicken then....:rotfl2: I found some things I liked also - a chicken caesar salad, a fruit salad plate, the pizza at Louies. You can eat up until 30 minutes before the park closes.

We just got the 2 park meal deal.

Can you tell me, is it a wristband they wear - and do you receive this
at the first restaurant you go to, or when you go into the park??

I purchased the Meal Deal online before we left too. Our trip was Aug 11 - 14 but I only purchased it for the first 3 days. We were leaving around noon on the 4th day so it wouldn't have been a wise purchase for us that day.

For Aug 11 I only purchased 1 child's meal deal - 2 parks / 1 day. We weren't getting to the parks until 5:30. I was confident that DS7 would be able to eat enough to make it worthwhile but I wasn't sure the rest of (DS12, DH & myself) would be able to make good use of it.

For Aug 12 & 13 we all had the Meal Deal - 2 parks / 1 day with CityWalk. The receipt I printed from online said to exchange the voucher at the electronic ticketing machine inside the front gate of any park.

So, Aug 11 we went to US. Once inside the park I couldn't easily find a machine so I went to Guest Services to ask where they were. The employee there said she'd go ahead and print them for us.

She gave us 17 tickets - 1 ticket per person for each day. The tickets for CityWalk were dated for the days I ordered them for. She mentioned that you could only get the CityWalk Deal during off peak dates. Off peak dates started Aug 12. The Meal Deal tickets weren't dated and she told me that they were good for 9 years. The tickets then had to be exchanged for wristbands at participating Meal Deal locations. Each day we exchanged 1 set of tickets for wristbands.

We never used the CityWalk tickets. They were good at Bob Marley's, Pastamore and 2 other places that I can't think of at the moment.

The Meal Deal locations at the parks are very clearly marked - big orange signs outside the restaurant. DS7 is very picky so we only ever ate at the locations that had PB&J on the kids menu. That limited the adult choices to burgers and pizza. I would have liked to try the chicken but the places that served chicken didn't serve PB&J.

At IoA we ate at the place in the Jurassic Park area. We were able to get double cheeseburgers with bacon, fries, onion rings and for dessert either a frosted lemon bundt cake, chocolate chip cookie or a chocolate silk cake. I don't know if we were supposed to get fries and onion rings though. At the register they asked if we wanted fries or onion rings and 2 of us said rings and 1 said fries. At the counter they gave us 3 orders of fries and 2 orders of onion rings.

At US we at Monster's Cafe. We had pizza but also for dessert they offered blue and red jello with whipped topping.

I threw away all my receipts so I'm having a hard time remembering what all we had. And, all our maps got wet so I tossed them. I do remember that IoA had 5 places to eat at and US had 4.

I was glad we got it. DH made good use of it as did DS7. I think DS12 & I could have gotten away with not getting the Meal Deal and sharing but sometimes that can be more of a pain than it's worth.

We were able to just get dessert if we wanted. At Mel's I was able to get just onion rings too. I thought they might look at us funny for just getting 1 thing but it was no big deal.

Also, none of the places opened until 11:30 and by 9:30 they were closed. We noticed the lines starting to get long around 8:30 each night.

We didn't have any bad food - everything we ordered was good. I'd say the only bad thing was the service at Richter's and if we didn't time it right, the long lines.

Thank you for the detailed info. I am not going with them that day so I am
trying to get as much info for them as possible.

It was really very easy. If they get a park map it will list the participating locations too.

The only limits we found were on the desserts at Mel's. We couldn't get shakes or floats even though they were on the dessert menu.

You get in line, grab a tray, order your food, proceed to the register, flash your wristband, they'll give you a receipt and off you go. You can make as many trips as you like.

Drinks aren't included so they may want to take cash for that or purchase the Meal Deal refillable sipper cup. The drinks are around a couple dollars, maybe a bit less. The Meal Deal refillable sipper cup (blue) was $8.99 and free refills all day only at the Meal Deal locations.

We bought the summer refillable cup (red) for $6.99 and refills were 74 cents at any drink location. There are other cups in the gift shops that you can get discounted refills with too. They'll have signs indicating which ones you can do that with.

Thanks for posting all that detailed information! We are going to be a Universal for 3 days and it's nice to know what to expect.

Thanks again for all your help.

You're both very welcome, glad I could be of some help!

One other thing - I did make sure that each day my kids removed the previous day's wristband. You get a new color each day and I didn't want to slow us down at the registers checking to see which wristband was the right color. Like if the current one slid under a previous days' or anything.
