Meal deal questions

We are going to universal on sat feb 12th (for mardi gras parade) is the meal deal worth i know the reastaurants close earlier in the off season does anyone know will they be opened later during the parade? also is the cost of the meal plan the same if you buy it at the parks as on the website?

I asked the same question a while back because I assumed it was similar to the Disney dining plan. The consensus of the board was it is not a good deal if you want to eat at other locations that are not part of the program. There are only certain restaurants it is valid at.

The meal deal is the same price online and at the park. The restaurants stop serving 30 minutes prior to park close and of course the time will vary based on the park hours. The Studios closes at 8pm on the night you're going to be visiting so food service will end at 7:30pm. Since the Mardi Gras parade and concert will be going on that night, you would need to grab something to eat from one of the various food carts around the park if you wait too long.

The meal deal is nothing like the Disney plan. There are only three restaurants in each park that participate and frankly there are much better places to try than the ones available. It's basically standard theme park fare and except for Louie's and Comic Strip Cafe, the places aren't that great.
