ME tags, spelling error?

Hi all! I thought maybe someone hear would know. I just received my magical express luggage tags for the trip home from disney and my first name is spelled Debrah instead of Debra. Do you think this will be a problem of any kind? I know that the airlines have to be super careful these days so I want to make sure I won't have any problems getting my luggage on the plane!

I can't believe it will be a problem. If you do, why not just take a black marker and black out the "h" - or add it if that is how it shouold be? (Couldn't tell from your post which spelling is the one you use, LOL). I travel fairly frequently and have never had anyone at the airport check my luggage tags against my ID. Never.

If your name is mispelled on your airline ticket (and thus doesn't match your photo ID), that would be a problem.

Its fine, they dont go by that anyway the use the barcode to scan your ME tags.

I used ME in May and my 1st name was slightly misspelled. No one said anything about it and it wasn't a problem at all. Not to worry!

The only thing I have a question about is you say that you received your DME tags for the trip home from Disney. There's no such thing as DME tags to be used FROM Orlando TO your home airport.

The ONLY time DME tags (yellow sticky paper with a lot of pre-printed info) are used is you put them on at home, and when your luggage arrives at MCO it will get pulled from the regular luggage and shipped with the other DME luggage to your resorts -- they know to pull your bags because of those DME tags.

But on the way home from WDW, there's no such need for such tags. If you are flying a Resort Airline Check-In "participating airline," when you check the bags at your resort through to your home airport they won't be tagged with DME tags, but rather with the regular airline/TSA tags that you would get put on your bags at any airport. If you are not using RAC, you will take your own bags to the airport (the DME driver will stow them under the bus, then you'll get them back when you arrive at MCO), and then take your bags to your airline ticket counter.

No such thing as homeward-bound DME luggage tags.

DME tags are used strictly by Disney, and have no bearing on TSA security. It's just like your own personal luggage identification tag.

Hmmmm... Ok, well now I'm really confused, lol! Here's what happened. I won a trip through a sweepstakes for 4 nights at the Beach Club. We then, extended our trip for an additional 7 nights at POR, at our expense. Our airfare is covered through the sweeps win. So, they sent me, on two different days, one package that had ME tags that had "Beach Club" with the date of 7/15 (our arrival date). In this pack, it also had a booklet with our flight arrival info (but no departure info). It also has a "transportation voucher" for each member of our family to "present for our motorcoach transportation to and from our resort". The following day, we received a SECOND envie with luggage tags that say Port Orleans Riverside with our departure date on them. In this envie, we have the same booklet as the other one but it has our departure flight info and more transportation vouchers from POR.

So, as you can see, they sent me two sets of luggage tags. One for the day of arrival and one for the day of departure. Now I wonder if I use the departure ones, is my luggage going to end up being sent back to POR on our departure date rather than to the airplane back to NJ???

OK, not sure why you have two sets of DME luggage tags, but at least I think I can fathom why you got 2 separate mailings. You have have 2 separate reservations, I would imagine. One ressie is for BC, the other for POR. Each ressie apparently generated a DME booklet. You WILL need the transportation vouchers for the buses, but you WON'T need DME tags for the way home. Trust me. The system doesn't work that way.

There's no way your fear will come true, the one where you say, "Now I wonder if I use the departure ones, is my luggage going to end up being sent back to POR on our departure date rather than to the airplane back to NJ???" DME tags are ONLY ONLY ONLY used in the bowels of Orlando International Airport for luggage that is unloaded from arriving airplanes. As the luggage travels FROM the airplane towards baggage claim, specific people watch ALL of that luggage specifically looking for those yellow DME tags. When they see those bags, they pull them from the luggage stream, scan the barcodes, and set them up to be delivered via truck to the proper resort.

So even if you put a yellow DME tag on your luggage at the end of your WDW vacation, there's no way it would get mixed in with the "arrival" luggage. And all this would only even matter if you're flying on a Resort Airline Check-In "participating airline." If you're not flying one of those, you have to take your own luggage to the bus with you, anyway, so no worries about mix-ups there.

Thanks Eric, for taking the time to explain all of that to me. I guess I can just keep the extra ME tags for a souvenir, lol! My mind is at ease again
