ME tags question

Hello fellow Dis'ers, I have a question regarding ME.

We are 44 days out from our departure date and have yet to book our flights. I am starting to stress about not getting the info to Disney in time to receive our ME tags.

How close to your departure date can you add the information and get them in time?
I don't want to run the risk of not having enough time to get the tags, but trying to wait for the airfare to go down a bit. (it just took a big jump...UGH)

Thanks

I would say about two weeks if you want to receive the tags in time is pushing it.

If you don't, you hold your baggage claim tickets and bring them to the ME desk. Rather than bypassing and going directly to the buses, the CM will guide you to the desk, where they will take the claim tickets and ask you for a brief description of your baggages. Then they dispatch someone to retrieve your bags from the carousel.

As long as you have ME booked, you will get your tags. They do not need the flight info right away, you can wait until a couple weeks before to let them know the flight details.

Thanks, so I don't have to have my flight info to WDW BEFORE they send out the tags?
Hmm, I thought they had to have the flight info for the tags???

I had thought so too, but last trip when I was setting everything up, the CM asked me if I was going to use ME and I said yes. She then asked for my flight information, but I didn't have it yet. She said that was okay and I could add that information later. Even without the info, the tags came. In the voucher booklet the information for the flight was blank, but the vouchers for ME were there for all members of my party. Just make sure you tell the CM that you are planning to use ME.

If this is the case, you should also check with the concierge at your resort to help you make sure that ME has your departure information. Without it, they won't issue you a pick-up time and voucher. I went down to concierge a few days before my trip ended to make sure everything was in order and they took all of the information down, called ME, and then issued the voucher for the return trip on ME.

Many guests have booked DME with air travel details, only to arrive at MCO on a completely different flight. Makes no difference. As long as you have reserved DME you are fine. Call them now, make those reservations. They will tell you to call them as soon as you firm up your air travel plans.
That way you will have your vouchers and the tags you need for your checked luggage in your hands before departure.

Thank you. When I booked the trip I requested ME, so it should be on the reservation. But I will call in the next couple days to ensure that they have me down for this.

Thanks again!! :)
