ME says it's too late to get bags?

One of my travel partners called Magical Express today & she was told that they would not be able to get her luggage because our trip is 8 days away. (I called last week & didn't have any problems.) Has anyone else ever been told this before? I'm a little aggrivated & nervous b/c we have a dining reservation that I don't want to miss & now we're going to be stuck at the luggage carousel getting her luggage. :sad2: Thanks for any input!

They won't be able to send luggage tags but she can still use the luggage service as long as you arrive before 10pm. When you check in at the DME counter they will ask how many pieces and get a description as well as copies of the claim checks, from there you get on your bus and DME will get your bags.

I wonder if what was really said is that the luggage TAGS can not be sent because the trip is too close? There's no reason that they can't be enrolled in DME including the luggage retrieval by DME. Since you mention a dining reservation, I'm assuming you're arriving before 10pm when they no longer do luggage pickup.

Also, be sure that your names are clearly visible on the luggage and give your claim check tickets to the ME CM's.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm wondering if she misunderstood what the CM was telling her (or if she spoke to a misinformed CM). According to my friend, the CM told her that she would have to get her own bags after our 7 pm arrival & bring them to the ME bus herself. I've called a week before a last-minute trip & I've never had problems with ME getting my bags. I think I'm going to call them tomorrow just to make sure. Thanks for the reassurance!

DME needs 10 days notice to print up and sent out their info packet, with luggage tags. So, they most likely won't be getting the packet.
But, if they do get the packet, then it should be fine. Luggage handling, for DME, stops at 10pm..not at 7pm. Not sure why someone would say that.

If the packet doesn't arrive before departure, be sure that all checked bags have something easily identifiable on them...I put homemade ribbons on mine..just in case. Big, wide, turquoise blanket binding with Winnie-the-Poohs all over it, then edged with lime green ribbon...very hard to miss. Then I can give that description to anyone who needs to look for the bags.

I got to the bottom of it today! ME is picking up everybody's bags & we should still make our 'Ohana dinner reservation. :goodvibes Thanks again everyone!

After 10 PM all baggage, without yellow tags and with yellow tags, must be picked up at the carousels and brought to the Magical Express bus.

Another suggestion for identifying baggage. Make up 4x6 inch index cards all with the same 3 digit number in big Magic marker print (optionally your name and resort in small print). Tape two of them on each piece of baggage.

If your timing to get from airport to restaurant reservation is tight, do be aware than one in four airplanes gets to its arrival gate more than 15 minutes late.
