We're flying via Southwest airlines, staying at POP. I want to make sure i've got this right:

Our flight arrives at 10:20pm, so we'll need to pick up our luggage and then go to ME, since it's after 10pm, correct?

Our flight departs MCO at 8:20am, will we have time to check our luggage at the resort, or should we just take it with us? I know that RAC opens at 5:00am, but that seems to me like its cutting it kind of close.

We've never flown in this late or left this early, but DS is at a Rotary Youth Leadership Conference in Upstate NY, so we're dropping him off and heading to the airport (3 hrs away) and then we need to be home and to the Conference for the Final dinner banquet at 5:30pm...so we opted to fly out of Philly on SW for the direct flights (plus it was $200 cheaper/person) and the times worked out best.

Thanks!

You've got it right. DME stops pulling bags at 10:00 p.m., so with a 10:20 p.m. arrival you will have to collect your own bags and take them to the DME bus.

For your trip home you also are correct about cutting it close with your flight time. If using RAC, you must have your bag check COMPLETED no later than three hours before your flight. That means that if your DME pick-up time is 5:20 a.m. (and it could be as early as 5:05 a.m., or so, or as late as 5:35 a.m.), you will need to be at the bus pick-up location by about 5:10 a.m. If you're the first in line at the RAC desk when it opens at 5:00 a.m., then there's a good chance you can be done in time. If not or if you have a pick-up time before 5:20 a.m., you probably are out of luck.

If you have ou might want to just plan on getting down there about 15 minutes before 5:00 a.m. and if there's no line yet, wait with your bags and see how the scenario plays out. You always can jump out of the RAC line and head to the bus if it arrives while you still are waiting.

disneyagain, I was wondering the same thing! I would also like to know if DH can go get the luggage while I head to the counter with the kids and check in for ME or do we all need to be together? I just want to expedite the process so we don't miss a bus and have to wait another half hour for the next one.

That should work just fine.

Than you Jestocost! Now we can just meet DH at the bus line. After a long day of travel we just want to get bed and gear up for our first day.

Does Southwest airlines allow for resort check in? I thought Southwest did not, but it's been a while since we went, so things may have changed

Southwest has started doing RAC at most WDW resorts. Only CBR and OKW are not online or scheduled to go online very soon.
