ME Procedure out of YYZ

This has probably been asked hundreds of times before but please bear with me. I'll be travelling solo on my upcoming trip. My sister, who is currently working in WDW, has asked me to bring down two large empty suitcases (big enough to be checked) so she can send some things back home with me. I will also have a small carry on size rolling suitcase. It will be quite the struggle to handle three bags but hopefully I'll manage What I'm wondering is, how do I know if I'll be pre-clearing U.S. customs? If I pre-clear customs, does this mean I DO NOT have to claim my checked bags in MCO? If yes, this would make my life so much easier without having to struggle with 3 pieces of luggage. The flight leaves at 10am out of YYZ. TIA!

If you're flying airlines like Air Canada or WestJet you will pre clear United States Customs in Toronto and when you land in Orlando you're flight would be treated like a regular domestic flight arriving from another city in the United States. So you can put the yellow Magical Express tags onto you're checked bags and don't need to claim them when you land. So when you exit the plane you can walk right to the Magical Express check-in desk.

Thanks for that info. Now I'll just have to figure out how to manage on my return to YYZ One more question though... My family and I have flown both Air Canada and WestJet multiple times from YYZ - MCO and each time we have cleared US Customs in Toronto. As for those other airlines maybe it has something to do with that being charter flights, because when Canada 3000 was still in business if you flew with them you also did not clear US Customs in Toronto.

Unfortunately I don't own one of those 3 piece sets that you can buy. You make a good point though... Perhaps I will see if my mom has a suitcase of a medium size to fit into my gigantor of a suitcase. Never considered that though, Thanks!

If they have straps on it so that you can hang another bag from it, make a suitcase train. Strap the pull handle of one of the larger ones (or the carry on) onto the strap of one of the larger ones. They should both roll around. You'll have to practice driving it around corners. I did this while on vacation in the UK when I ended up buying a suitcase there to bring back my treasures. Worked pretty well.

Sounds like something I'll have to practice at home before I look like a goof at the airport Good suggestion though. I will give it a try

The suggestion has been made to not put the yellow tags on until after clearing customs.

But you probably should put the tag on before giving the suitcase to the customs atgent for inspection. Otherwise he might whisk the bag away, onto the conveyor belt behind him, before you can get the tag onto it.

For those who clear or must reclear customs in Orlando, there is another conveyor belt out in front to put the baggage on if you don't want to schlep it onto the tram and through the airport yourself. Yellow tagged baggage put on this belt (by you, not whisked away by the agent) will be automagically delivered to your room.

Well in Toronto you first clear Customs and then you put you're checked bags on the conveyor belt, so they can be sent to the plane.
