Hi Everyone.
I haven't posted in a while and I feel like I should let you all know how I am doing. After all, you all have been through this since the beginning, and your support has gotten me this far.
I have surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I am having my chemo port removed. They like to keep it in for a year just in case more chemo is needed but my port is pressing on my left arm nerves and the pain is intense. So I am hoping that removing the port will help the pain. Of course the fact that I am left handed is part of the urgency, they are nervous about causing permanant damage.
I have been going to Physical Therapy three times a week for manual drainage of my right arm. When they removed my lymph glands they eliminated all the lymph drainage systems for my arm. So I have Lymphedema. It is swelling of the arm due to an excess of lymph fluids. I have been fitted for a sleeve that will cover my arm from my fingers to my shoulder and I will have to wear it for the rest of my life, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The sleeve looks like the compression stockings that old people wear. Notfashionable, but I guess I can sew on some Mickey designs. Most people don't get this but of course I did, I have gotten everything so far so why not Lymphedema?
I start Radiation on April 5th. I will go 5 days a week for 35 treatments. My last treatment is scheduled for May 20th. I leave for Fl on May 21st. I am not sure how I will tolerate the radiation but I am hoping all it makes me is tired. I can't and won't say it can't be worse than chemo because with my luck I am not taking any bets.
My hair is growing back. It started growing the first week in March and is about 1/4 inch now. I don't know who's hair this is, but I remember my hair being dark blonde. Where this black and grey hair came from I don't know, but as soon as it is long enough it is going to meet my friend Mr. Clairol.
I have two, maybe three surgeries left to fix the disaster that happened when I was on chemo. I got two major infections in the reconstructed breast that cause the tissue to die. The Dr won't give me a definate answer, he just says "Two, maybe three".
I hope this Easter finds all my friends here in good health as I am almost there with you. Peggie

Good luck tomorrow Peggie. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs and more hugs!
