How much longer will ME be free?

Any ideas on how much it'll cost when it's no longer free? What is the best alternative? Mears?

TIA!

DME will remain free through the end of 2006, or maybe a month sooner. I'm not EXACTLY sure but I know I'm in the ballpark.

What will happen after it's free? Nobody knows. Disney probably doesn't know yet. I'm sure they have several options already planned out down to oil change schedules, but I doubt there's already a decision made. They have a lot of data yet to digest.

Can you use it if you have a room only resservation?

Anyone can use it as long as you are staying on property. It will be free until the end of the 50th celebration, which I believe is November 2006.

Almost all the resorts are able to use DME. SoG, Swan and Dolphin are not, at least they weren't able to use it in the past. May have changed now.
I would think that when they start charging for this service it will be pretty similar to what Mears is charging...around $25-30 pp r/t. Now, if there are 3 of us traveling, that comes to almost $100. For that price we would take a towncar service.

Whereas I, as a solo traveler flying Song or JetBlue, will continue to use DME even when I have to pay for it.
Airline ticket to Disney $150
Transportation to hotel $25
Being able to bring two LARGE suitcases PRICELESS :)

I agree

Not having to deal with luggage and checking in for your flight at the resort are huge plusses for me. I have a small family (just my son and I), so I'll assume it will only cost $50.00- $60.00.

I think it depends on what type of competition is left will determine when and how much Disney will charge. If they have succeeded in cutting out a lot of small guys then our choices will eventually be limited.
