Even if we have carry on with essentials for the overnight, part of me still feels like I should grab our own luggage because otherwise it won't show up to our room until probably 8pm or later, which is after DD's bedtime (we land at 3:30).
Has anyone here not relied on ME to deliver luggage to their room? We will be arriving at MCO. Our daughter will be almost 4 at time of travel.

We grabbed our own luggage since we arrived in the evening and didn't want to wait to have it delivered. The driver will put it under the bus and get it out for you at your resort.

I always grab my own. Not because I think ME will do a bad job, but because I am used to picking up my own luggage everywhere else. I also don't back a ton of luggage.

For us, that's a perk we "pay" for, so we wouldn't get our own luggage unless we had to.

On our last two trips, we literally got our luggage within an hour of checking in. It was super fast.

The one and only time I used the luggage service it took 8 hours to arrive. I know that's unusual but soured me on the process. We just get our own luggage and put it in the bus. We have often been lucky to get our room right away so we can put the bags in tne room and hang up clothes.

I've done both - picked it up and waited for it. If I were arriving mid-afternoon with a little one - I'd pick it up - for the same reason you are worried about - really wanting it to arrive before bedtime. If arriving before noon - I definitely let Disney do the work.

For me, it's easier to risk my son being woken up by a knock on the door than tracking through the airport with all of our luggage.

I it's usually just the two of us traveling so easy is the most important thing for me.

If you're going to carry the essentials, I would let them take it. One less thing to haul.

I know it's probably rare, but I've read horror stories so we prefer to grab our own and the driver will place them in the bottom of the bus. ;)

We always let ME get ours. It is SOOOO much easier. If you have what you need for the night then just let them bring it.

For whatever weird reason I hate when people bring their stuff on the bus. To me it feels like we are waiting for them to get there and when they are waiting on their luggage it makes the bus wait too. I know that isn't how it works but it just feels like it to me. I want to get going!!

Why would you waste time getting your own bags when you don't have to? Pack everything you need for the first 24 hours in your carry on bags. You should always do so, no matter where you vacation. Then, if you don't want a knock on the door late at night, tell the front desk to have your bags held. They will hold them until you call down and tell them to bring them up to your room. As added insurance put the privacy please tab in your door.

If you trust the airline to move your bags for you, you should have no problem trusting Disney to grab them and deliver them to your room.

We went for our honeymoon in 2009 and took our 3 yr old in 2011. If my memory serves me correctly Disney says luggage will be in your room within 3 hours of the plane arrival time. Both trips it took between 5 and 6 hours be delievered and when I called I was told it was 3 hours from the time I check in (though I know have seen differently but whatever).

Last year, we checked in around 2pm and we were just getting our 3yr old ready for bed at 8pm when our luggage arrived. After waiting so long twice, we will just pick up our own. You just grab your bag and make your way to DME afterwards no matter how long it takes you to collect your luggage you just hop on the bus when you get there.

The time frame is actually within 3 hours of when you check in at the resort. I have never seen it listed as the time from when your plane lands. And during peak times they extend the delivery window to 4 hours of when you check in at the resort.

As we are international we always have to get our own luggage as we are not sent the ME tags - this is probably why you see so many people with their luggage. It is super convenient to have your luggage then and there when you get your room - we always arrive late at night so there is no waiting for a room.
It's not that hard to drag luggage through the terminal, one time we had it easy and were in same terminal other time we were as far away as possible. If you have a huge amount of luggage there are guys waiting with trolleys to help you take your luggage - one time when DS was young and we had umpteen suitcases and stroller, etc, we used that and they took us all the way to the other terminal for ME - you just need to tip them.
