ME for Relatives Not Staying OnSite?

This is a weird question, but here goes. My DW and kids and I are staying at the BC and will use Magical Express to get there. My MIL and FIL are flying with us to Orlando; but they are staying in Orlando with relatives that are Disney cast members. They would love to take ME to BC with us so they can have lunch with us and then be picked up by our Disney CM family members. My wife called ME to see if my in-laws could pay for a one-way ride on ME and we couldn't get a definitive answer. She was told it would probably depend on how busy the bus was.

So--has anyone ever done this, traveled on ME when you're not staying at a resort but are traveling with resort guests? My inlaws would of course prefer to travel with us (and their grandkids) rather than have to take a taxi or a car.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I would think they would have to be registered guests. Why not just get a limo/town car service to take all of you to the resort in style!!

When we took ME last fall they checked our names against our reservation. If you're in-laws aren't on your reservation they most likely won't be able to use ME.

I would do what a PP suggested and get a one-way limo trip for all of you.

Thanks y'all! I know they have the names of the resort guests on the reservation list. But you have to check in at the ME desk before you go to the bus, and we were told that my in-laws might be able to purchase tickets there since they were traveling with us. (Letting them do that might be spreading a bit of pixie dust, I don't know.) I suspect Mears/ME handles this on a case-by-case basis if it's allowed at all. I've been on ME buses that were half-empty and others that were completely full.

I know this was an very unusual question and I appreciate the responses.

ME is a free service for registered resort guests. ME riders must be listed on the resort reservation.

Others who wish to get to WDW, but are not registered guests can proceed to the Mears desk on level 1 to purchase a trip to the resort. They will be placed on a Mears Van and transported to the resort.

Disney is contractually PROHIBITED from taking passengers who do NOT have a reservation. (The Taxi drivers won that battle LOL!)

Now, you can buy a Mears ticket and Mears runs DME for Disney and there have been reports that you wind up on the Disney bus. But there are also reports that you wind up on a mini van touring Orlando

You cannot BUY a ticket at the Disney counter and they will not let you on without a reservation.

The CM you spoke too was not correct. (Not the first time that's happened!)

Carol, dudspizza, everyone, thanks for your time and the answers. Much appreciated, you've saved us stress and headache! This board is amazing!
