DParent, DF and I are planning a trip to the world either late 2007 early 2008. What has been some DISer experiences? We are trying to decide if the ME will be worth flying into MCO, or if we'd rather fly to sanford and have a car meet us?

Nothing but great for us.

1 minor delay becuase they were working on the curbs at the bus area at OKW so it caused a bit of a back-up.

We rent a car as well but still take ME then rent at a DTD location and shave a day or so off the rental.

I've used DME about 4 times now, and have had only good experiences to date. I have flown into Sanford in the past...nifty little airport, very user friendly. But, it is almost twice as far from WDW as MCO is...takes about 50 minutes to get to WDW. I would only fly into Sanford if I got a really great airfare, in order to make up for the cost of a car service picking me up.
If you get decent airfare into MCO, I would heartily recommend DME...it takes, on average, about 65-70 minutes from deplaning to your resort. Your bags will arrive at your resort several hours later, depending on time of day.

Keep in mind that car services from Orlando-Sanford to WDW are quite costly because of the airport's distance from WDW.

You'd have to find a significantly lower fare for it to make sense to pay for the car service -- and it would still take you longer to get from Orlando-Sanford to WDW (because of the distance) than to get from Orlando International to WDW with DME.

I think Orlando-Sanford is a reasonable option for someone who would rent a car regardless of airport. It means a longer drive to and from the airport, but cost is otherwise similar. If the flight options to Orlando-Sanford are cheaper and more convenient, it more than makes up for the longer drive.

However, for someone who would like to be driven to WDW, I think DME out of Orlando International will almost always be a cheaper, faster, more convenient option than using a transportation service out of Orlando-Sanford.
