ME & DVC??'s

Staying @ Bay Lake Towers w/friends. Can we still use ME and/or if they pick us up at the last minute in Orlando (that's still up in the air) what about our luggage. We plan on using ME; but they might be able to just pick us up. How do we get our luggage if we put tags on home airport; & don't know until we land MCO if they are coming.

You can still use the ME IF you book it
If you won't know whether your friends are picking you up or not, don't put the Luggage tags on. Get the luggage yourself. If you get picked up and don't get your luggage, ME won't get it if you don't show up for the Bus, they will assume you aren't there. They do not provide the Lugggage service unless you are using the ME bus

See the sticky at the top of the page regarding using ME as a luggage service. It is not acceptable policy to do so.

When you check-in at the ME desk, Disney begins the search for your luggage. They won't know to go look for it, if you have not checked in and your luggage may stay at the airport baggage claim.

If you have any inkling that someone is going to pick you up; do not use your yellow tags at your home airport. When you arrive, if your friends were not able to pick you up, you need to retrieve your luggage from the baggage claim and take it to the bus - it is the same if your friends do pick you up, so it would be no different. Either you will be taking your luggage down to the ME area or wherever you have arranged to be picked up.

If you are staying at DVC on points, you still can use DME as noted, but the member needs to book your DME reservations through member services.

I agree with leaving the tags off of your bags if there's a chance that your friends will pick you up. The reality is that your tagged bags almost certainly will still make it to your room, but there are risks.

However, if you do wind up taking the DME bus you can still have them collect and transport your untagged bags. You will need to go to the actual DME Welcome Center counter to give them your claim check numbers and a description of your bags, but they do have a system in place for locating and transporting untagged bags.
