I had a conference in Orlando this week and spent a few nights at SSR.

The ME baggage drop off was in "soft opening" (Just like a ride :rotfl2: )

I was flying on of the airlines on the short list (Delta, AA, United) so I decided to give it a shot. I dropped my luggage around noon for a 7 pm flight.

WHen I got home so did my luggage! It went great! You get the boarding pass and ailine claim check at the luggage drop. I would suggest having either your flight number or confirmation with you (I had neither and that seemed to throw the guy, but he did find me!)

I just got the airport and went right to the gate!

That's great, I'm excited to use this service! Thanks for sharing your experience

CarolA, thanks for the report. I see the new buses all the time, wondered if they were doing some soft runs.

Thanks for the report.

Did you ride the Magical Express too or was the service just open for checkin/luggage drop?

The buses are not running for guests yet... just luggage is on a transport. The young man doing the luggage has MCO IDs on and I would just assume he is an employee of the company that the airlines hire to do this. (I have seen it in other places too). I did tip him a few bucks using the "skycap" assumption, but who knows.

I didn't look. Mine was well under weight/size so I wasn't too concerned about it. They had some equipment in the little "house" where the guy was.

I would say that my experience with these folks in Vegas (and it may be a different company) Is that they were fairly strict with the rules. (I recall one man being told his Steamer trunk was too large, but not the outcome)

Thanks for posting CarolA!!! It's great to hear that the luggage service worked well. We'll be arriving for 10 nights on June 4th and I can't wait to use the new "Magical Express"!!!

Carla

Can't wait to use ME for our June 1-10 trip. Since DH isn't arriving until 3 days after myself and DD11 and DS4 not having to handle luggage in MCO is a blessing.

Also, just had to post to check my countdown ticker. :rotfl:

does anyone know how many ME luggage tags are sent per person?
I am concerned that if DH :smooth: and I are only allowed one
checked bag each, we may be a little tight on space..anyone know?

Disney will transfer ALL incoming baggage to the resort. I would expect you get two luggage tags per person since that is the airline standard.

For luggage checked at the resort for return to the airport at last check you had to be flying, Delta, Song, United, Ted or American Airlines. Otherwise you have to haul it with you on the bus. (Assume you will be putting it in those big storeage bins under the bus)

I just called WDW and the CM said we get 2 ME luggage
tags p/p WHEW! Now I am happy again..........just need
the luggage tags, DDE card, and we are all set..oh great,
I guess I am not done stressing after all! :headache:
