ME and Southwest

Is there something special that I need to do/know when flying Southwest and using Disney's Magical Express?

On the way home, you would bring your bags directly to the bus, you would not be able to use the resort check out airline check in stand.

Many folks have reported long lines at the airport to check in and check baggage for Southwest. Going home you may wish to request a but 3-1/2 hours in advance if they assign you to a bus 3 or 2-3/4 hours in advance.

Everything else works the same for all airlines.

If we use ME to get to our hotel do we have to use it to return to the airport? We are thinking of renting a car for part of our stay and use it to return to the airport.

No, if you wish to use your rental car, that is fine. (Fuel hint), fill up at the Hess in Disney. As cheap as any.
