ME and renting a car

I've rented a car for the length of our stay, picking up and dropping off at MCO. My question is, can 2 of us travel via Magical Express with the luggage for all 4 people while the other 2 travel in the rental?

We did that a year or so ago. DW and kids took ME while I drove the rental to resort. (I beat them by 10 mins).

I did this wth my family this past August. My Mom, sister and my daughter took the ME while I went to rent the car and drove. I got there 5 minutes before them.
