Approx 2hrs 45min prior to your flight time +/-15 min

We got picked up exactly 3 hours prior to departure. It worked very smoothly and we will do it again.

When I went in July the pick up time was exactly 3 hours prior to my flight time, but when we went this December our flight time was 7:50 and our pick up time was 4:15.

The DME motorcoaches from the WDW resorts to Orlando Int'l Airport serve the resorts at fixed times, twice each hour. For example, at a WDW resort, DME motorcoach service could be at 20 minutes and 50 minutes after the hour, or at 10 minutes and 40 minutes after the hour, or at a two other times per hour every thirty minutes.

Guests are scheduled to depart from their resort approx. 3 hours before their scheduled flight departure. In a few cases, that will be exactly 3 hours, if the guest's flight, by coincidence, leaves the same number of minutes past the hour as a DME departure from that guest's resort.

Another way to think of this is that all guests at a given resort whose flights depart over a 30-minute period will be scheduled for the same DME motorcoach departure.

A few things to note:

3 hours sounds like a lot. It's not. Remember, the coach makes a few stops within Disney, and then 2 stops at the airport (Terminal A, and B). Once the bus has picked up at all its stops, it could stil potentially take 45 minutes to actually get from Disney to the airport.

DME is designed to get you to the airport 2hrs prior to flight departure. This is what Orlando International Airport recommends so that you have plenty of time to go through security, get all boarding passes, check luggage, etc. This way, you're not rushed at all, and don't get stressed out.

It was exactly 3 hrs before when we went in July. It was just enough time for us to get our tickets, check our bags, eat a light dinner, and get through security. When we arrived at our gate, they were starting to board.

Airlines no longer provide meals, except on international flights and in first class. So it's good to have time for a meal. Orlando Airport has many options for meals, including a large food court in the center of the terminal, table-service family restaurants (such as Macaroni Grill, Outback Steakhouse, and Chili's), and all sorts of fast food outlets.

Airlines begin boarding 30 minutes before scheduled departure, so 3 hours before departure is actually only 2 1/2 hours before boarding.

Delta Song sells dinners at an additional cost, but they aren't all that expensive.
We got to sit in the airport for a full 2 hours, but I guess it's better that than having to run for your flight. Just wish we didn't have to sit there for so long.

Well, think about it, there is just some time there that can't be used for anything. Would you rather it be at your resort concerned about getting to the airport, or at the airport, trying to finding something to do?

I take the latter.

I prefer the former.
