Hubby just told me that we are going to WDW for our aniversary. We would be going solo.:hyper: . Any advice? We just went June 2004 for the first time with the boys and had a blast. I know this time would be very different because of not having the kids.

My wife and I are going without the kids this December for a long weekend. We have not gone to the World alone since our honeymoon 8 years ago. I think we will have a good time.

Just take it slow and enjoy the company of your husband solo. Its a wonderful bonding experience! Do things you wouldn't normally do with the kids. Fancy sit down dinners, Pleasure Island, etc. Slowly walking around WS and exploring. I'm so jealous! You and your hubby will have a wonderful time!

Lucky you! My 25th wedding anniversary is in 3 years and I'm already planning a "couple" trip for DH and myself. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Plan to spend plenty of time doing "non-park" activities and just enjoying your resort. Take a stroll around the beautiful grounds at the Polynesian at sunset. Do a nice quiet dinners at one of the more upscale restaurants at the resorts - Narcoossee's, Artist Point, Jiko - or at World Showcase. Then do the opposite and allow yourselves to be absolutely childlike again - play in the water features at Epcot, go mini-golfing - pretend you're 16 and dating again.

I would try to fit in Jellyrolls (Dueling piano bar) one night after a nice meal at one of the Boardwalk or EPCOT restaurants and then I would go to the comedy club (or one of the other seven featured places at Pleasure Island) for another nighttime entertainment adventure on another evening. Take advantage of being without the little DISer's and enjoy the adult features of WDW

Great thanks for the info. I had not heard about Jellyrolls we will have to try that. I know my hubby would love it!

Last year my DH and I were down there for a full week before my DD and her friend flew down for the following week. It was really weird because we never go anywhere without the kids ...

We relaxed by the pool most days and then would visit some of the resort lounges, stroll down some of the walking trails at the various resorts, etc. Very relaxing which is just what we needed!!

(We did bring a phone card and called home most every day to see how the kids were doing without us ... both late teens)

DH and I just got back from a 3 day solo trip. Did lots of relaxing things such as the Tea at Grand Floridian, also took a boat ride from GF to Magic Kingdom, watched the parade. We also checked out the Christmas decorations at various resorts.......oh, we also rode the monorail just for fun! Dinner was more relaxing too. Had a nice time at the Blue Zoo. We also did the Princess breakfast in Norway, since our "little princess" is older now, it was fun too see the other families enjoying their kids interact with the princesses.

My DH and I just went on a "solo" trip without the girls! It was wonderful, I did miss the girls, though!! We had a great time!! You will, too!! :p

Although the whole family went recently, DH and I took off by ourselves quite a bit, and IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!! I don't think we've ever had so much fun!! We went where we wanted, w/o pleas to do "kid" stuff, and acted like a couple of teenagers ourselves.

Have a blast!!

We finally went solo two yrs ago. My husband said it was the best trip ever!
Because we took a slower pace we noticed little things in the parks that we had never noticed before because we were always rushing from one ride to another.
Get up when you want, eat where you want, no extra luggage, can take an afternoon nap, can check out the lounges, etc etc etc.

My kids (now 21, 18 and 11) never wanted to see the Little Mermaid show at MGM. My husband and I decided to go when we went solo. We were surrounded by toddlers, LOL.

Sounds like a lot of you had so much fun. I can not wait! I know I will miss my boys, but hubby and I rarly have a chance to go off by ourself and we really needed to plan something. I have only been to WDW once (last May). It was just as magical for me as it was for the boys. He figured that would be perfect for us. With a 1 yo and a 4yo we missed alot of details. I had a blast, but I can not wait to go back without the kids.

Thanks for all the advice. Keep it coming!

Enjoy the alone-ness time you get! Being alone with a loved one at Disney is very cute and romantic... there are soo many things you can do together! I'd probably watch "Wishes" and oh, go to Pleasure Island... get your groove on with your babe! *wink* lol, have a great time! And Happy Anniversary (early, but oh well)! Take Care-

With Love <3,

You've gotten lots of great suggestions! Enjoy yourselves, and just take pleasure in each other. That's what we're planning on in April.
We've been to WDW several times over the past 25 years, but this time it will be just the 2 of us, like it was on our honeymoon. We had only each other to think of, not which kid doesn't like which ride or show or restaurant!! LOL

Jellyrolls does sound fun, and we'd like to try Cirque as we've never done that yet (too much $$$ with 4 kids!)

Have a great trip! :sunny:

My DH and I will be going next April/May for a much needed 10 night getaway.
He has never been to WDW and I was there only once with relatives on their vacation. I too am looking forward to doing all kind of fun things. We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary next year, so this will be like a 2nd honeymoon for us. I have already booked the Hoop-dee-doo and Spirit of Aloha dinner shows. I am planning a horse drawn carriage ride at POR where we will be staying the first 4 nights. We'll also be renting boats at different resorts :boat: , watching Wishes from the beach at the POLY where we will be staying the remaining 6 nights. Pleasure Island Clubs and Cirque, and the Boardwalk one evening including Jellyrolls. I just cannot wait ! I'm sure you'll find lots to do w/o the kids  I know we will. :D Have a great time!!!!

We had a blast going on our honeymoon last year at WDW. I would suggest letting them know that you're celebrating your anniversery. Just plan some nice restraunts for you and your DH to go to, and just enjoying going without the kids.

Our 2DS haven't gone in the last four years ( we go annually). We take an afternoon or more to stroll the countries of EPCOT. A drink, an appetizer, a drink, an appetizer. We go to more "nice" restaurants like California Grill and Artist Point. On one hand I miss the good old days but just the two of us is very relaxing.

My husband I have only gone solo. It has been fantastic and different every time. The first time we went was my first time period. We stayed at Carribiean Beach and we saw everything. He was like the Disney Gestapo marching me from place to place. It was a dream for me. I actually cried when I walked into Magic Kingdom for the first time. We did all sorts of character breakfasts and at many of the nicer places.

The next time we went, we stayed off site and did more of the Orlando vacation. We did all the other parks too as well as Kennedy Space Center. The trip was fantastic because we relaxed a lot more and didn't have to worry about seeing everything this time. He proposed the last night of our trip by the lake at Downtown Disney. As you can see, I'm partial to this trip. :)

This last year, we went for what was supposed to be our honeymoon. Don't ask, the wedding was postponed. We couldn't get married there as was our backup plan. (Thank you hurricane Charley.) Charley hit our first day there. However, it was our best trip ever. We didn't plan anything because things were a little confusing after the hurricane. We spent a lot of time just walking around and looking at things. We didn't go on a lot of rides and we went on one of the behind the scenes tours. That was amazing.

As you can tell, I love going to Disney. Now, I'm trying to plan trip number 4. For this trip, we won't be alone. I am now looking forward to sharing Disneyworld with my child and seeing everything again.

We're going to stay at Fort Wilderness for 10 days next October for our 25th anniversay. The kids are grown and gone and it will be just the two of us. We can't wait. They last time we were there they were just building Epcot so it's been a looooooong time.
