We will be using ME on next trip in April. This will my wife's first vacation without the kids. Our lugguage will be light, carryon light. Is there a reason either way to let ME handle our lugguage or for us to keep it with us? I'm not sure we would need anything. We will be arriving at 12:30PM and probably going to a park or DTD when we arrive. I'm a control freak and naturally would like to have it with me, but we are trying to maximize our time with the kids. Any suggestions?

thanks.

I think if all I had was one carry one bag, I'd just take it. They stow in under the bus for the trip, and then I'd check it with the hotel when I checked in. If there are just the two of you and two bags. I couldn't imagine being able to make it to DW with one carry one bag! Way to go! :thumbsup2

Since we were going with the kids which require atleast two changes of clothes per day, favorite snacks/toys from home, items to entertain on the plane and in lines, portable DVD/game players, etc. My wife and I agreed we would go as light as possible and spend more money on us. I can't wait! You know, I have never had a turkey leg, my mouth is watering right now!

If your luggage is within your airline's size limits for carry-on luggage, you can carry it on the aircraft. By carrying your own luggage, you eliminate the risk that that your luggage will be misdirected or that the airline's baggage handlers will damage your luggage or contents.

Once you make the decision to carry your luggage onto the aircraft, you eliminate the option using the yellow DME luggage routing tags to have your luggage "magically appear" in your room. That service is for checked luggage only.

You would carry your luggage to the DME motorcoach. You can take personal items (such as purse or camera bag) to your seat, but the DME driver will put actual luggage into the hold. Unlike mainline aircraft, the motorcoach doesn't have big overhead storage compartments, nor much room under the seat in front of you.
