Do you take your "carry-on bags" ( such as a small suitcase sized item) onto the bus with you or do they need to be stored in the compartments on the side of the bus? Thanks.

It really depends on the size of your "carry on". If its a small item like a laptop bag, purse or tote, then you can bring them on board with you. If its a larger roll-on kind of bag you'll most likely want to put it underneath the bus. The overhead bins on the bus aren't terribly large and the space under the seat in front of you is also pretty limited.

I have a laptop bag that I normally carry on the bus with me. Anything bigger could be taken on the bus but it would be hard to handle. You have to carry it up the steps into the bus and the aisles are not very wide. I agree that any overhead storage was not designed for the larger carry on size bags.

Thanks for the responses.....now I remember how narrow the aisles are and how much of a struggle it would be to try with my carry-on.

I just had mine stowed underneath the bus. The bus passageway is pretty narrow. Unless you need to access it, stowing it underneath works well.

My carry-on is a small Vera Bradley duffel, so I do carry it on the bus with me and just put it under the seat in front of me (just like on the plane) or hold it on my lap. :)

not much room under your feet, better to keep in on your lap. Please don't do what I've seen other do, put it on the seat next to you. If the bus is full that's a no-no.:goodvibes

I've never been on a full ME bus and I always have a traveling companion, so no worries. In 10 or 11 trips, I've manged just fine. ;)

I have had the pleasure, it was an entire sports team, I think it was LAX. They ALL got their luggage and filled the holds under the buss.

Same here, but it was heading back to MCO.

16 family members, 26 bags, and it took quite a long time to load. And we left around 3:00 pm, so they could have used RAC. Of course, the guys insisted on dictating to the bus driver where they wanted all their luggage stowed so they could retrieve it by the family at MCO.

Of course, they were offloaded first at MCO, and again, forever to unload. Multiple families trying to figure out who was going to take what when we just wanted to roll.

Laptop bag/purse inside it are carried onto the bus. I usually just put those things in my lap.
The overhead compartment is very small and has a bar running in the middle of it so it's hard to use.

Small carryon suitcase goes under the bus. I tip the driver 2.00 when I get to the resort since he has to mess with my suitcase.

I have several carryon bags...one rolling duffle (LL Bean) that I use if I'm going for a short trip and don't need to check bags. That bag always goes beneath the bus.
But, I have a largish backpack that stays with me, on my lap. The same with other tote bag style carryon bags. I seldom put anything at my feet..it's a pretty tight area to begin with. 'If' there is no one beside me, once we get moving, I put my bag on that seat, otherwise, the bag stays on my lap.
