Graco travel system stroller + diaper bag + Disney transportation = my new nightmare. Tell me that I can handle all this for one day on my own.....
We have an umbrella stroller...without shade....without storage....doesn't recline......
I can't talk DH into a new stroller by Thursday.

you can do it.. just scale down your diaper bag.. even just do a back pack. This way when your bording the buses everything you need in in the one backpack and throw in on your back.

The majority of people who buy travel systems give up by age 2, and get a good umbrella type stroller (I personally don't like travel systems, and used a stroller frame, both single and double, for my kids). I had a combi twin savy with my twins (also comes in a single), and it was great -folded down to nothing, and had a stroller strap. I'm guessing once your baby gets heavier, you will end up with another stroller anyway.

Yes, skip the carseat and just use the stroller as a stroller.

Like a pp said definately scale down your diaper bag and use a backpack, even if you have to make a few purchases its worth it.

I also used a sling when traveling solo with the kids. Definatley helps on and off the buses and in lines and pavilions where strollers aren't allowed.

Or rent a nice lightweight fully reclining stroller from abbf.com for the lenght of the trip :)

Remember that you will need to fold the stroller for the buses.
You won't usually have to fold the stroller for monorails or boats unless there is not room.
I noticed that you have a 2 older children listed in your signature. I would suggest you enlist their help in getting on and off the buses. They can hold things for you or learn to fold and unfold the stroller.

I am getting a new stroller but not until the end of April. And the diaper bag has been a backpack since she was born. We won't have a problem with the Graco when DH is with us but he is leaving us in Disney one day and I am cringing at the thought of diaperbag on back, chunky monkey baby in one arm and stroller under the other. I guess I need to do a few practice runs. It's just going to be me (and DH) and DD for this trip. Next trip, I will definitely have the other 2 trained.

My baby is the same weight as yours and I couldn't do it. When I do travel with her alone, I use a backpack and the Maclaren. I imagine it takes two hands to fold and lift the graco. What will you do with baby? Rent or borrow a lightweight stroller, it'll make your trip much less stressful.

If your definately not getting the new stroller until after the trip I would consider a cab for your solo day.

Depending on where your staying and what park you want to visit it would run from $8-15 each way plus tip. IMHO it would be well worth the $ not to have to deal with the buses and the baby.

I noticed you have stepchildren, are they going to be with you? The 12 year old could carry the baby on and off the bus while you handle the stroller? If not, I am sure some friendly person will help you.

When our dd was small, we flew a lot just the two of us and people were very friendly!

We are traveling with our 22 pound 7 month old next week. We plan on using a baby carrier for bus trips, so we have enough hands for the stroller and our 2 year old.

I would imagine there would be a good samaratin willing to help. At least if I saw someone struggling, I'd help.

We dumped ours when our daughter was 6 months old. We got an umbrella stroller for Christmas and by January, we were taking the umbrella with us everywhere. I used the travel system stroller for walking in our neighborhood, but now it just sits unused.

When we have another child, I am simply getting on of those frames that hold the carseat/infant carrier in. I could never carry my daughter in her carseat infant carrier, so the carseat frame will be a must for me. Then as soon as baby #2 can still up as well as #1 did in the umbrella stroller, we will switch to that.

Hmm guess I'd better clean up the seat and stroller and go list them on Craigslist.

I use a messenger bag that I put on before taking the baby out of the stroller and I have a jogging stroller that is relatively easily to fold just pulling a handle (easier than my Maclaren)and hold the baby.

You will find people to help you though.

Good luck

This confirms that my daughter is tiiiiny. She is 20 months old and just hit 23lbs.

The funny thing is that his sister is 2.5 and only weighs 27 pounds! She was in size 4 diapers when we potty trained her and he is in them now!:rotfl:

You could always ask someone for help if no one offers. I think the poster who mentioned taking a cab had a good idea. You wouldn't have to worry about getting a seat and carrying everything onto the bus.

I give you a lot of credit! I'm going to be by myself for one day during our next trip and I'm not even attempting to bring my 21lb babysaurus into the parks.

Typically you will be waiting for a bus with a bunch of other people. Ask someone for help. I am POSITIVE that somebody will be more than happy to help you with the stroller on the bus when they realize you are by yourself. Ask a father with older children. I'm sure he will relate!

Don't stress about it - there are sooooo many nice people out there.

BTW Epcot would be a great place for you to walk around with the baby. Low key and lots to see at the World Showcase. Have fun!

I've done it on my own with DS - taking him on/off buses with diaper bag, stroller, etc., but not with a travel system stroller. I've used the baglini as my diaper bag for trips, so very small and easy. For stroller, when DS was 6 months I used the Kolcraft stroller sold at disney. A few weeks later, I bought a Maclaren, and now it's a breeze travelling with DS on my own.

Other options which may make it easier... do you have a hip carrier or other baby type carrier (Mai Tai, etc)? This can free your hands, so you can then attach baby to you and have hands free for the stroller. When DS was 6 months and I took him to Europe on my own, I skipped the stroller and just used the carrier.

Of couse, my DS is tiny. He's almost 2, and not yet 23 lbs (22.8...)

Good luck.

that all we bring is a small book bag, then we bring 2 bottles (empty) and a bottle of water. We use powder formula for her so we "pre-scoop" 2 feedings in to empty breast milk storage bags (zip locks work just as well) and bring a few of those along to cut back on space. I also take a baby carrier with us and pop her into it before the bus gets there and fold up the stroller. I am luckey enough that my 13 year old travels with us and can help a bit. We got our stroller at Babies r us for about $50 and its a no frills fold up, light weight kind.

You can do it. I went in August by myself for 9 days w/ my DD - who was almost 2 (so it was probably a little easier - she was walking and doing stuff by herself). But, I had the big Graco, a diaper bag and another big bag (plus her). Just go slow and take your tiem, and know that people behind you can wait. I would say about half the time someone may offer to help you - take them up on their offer.
