MDE question for young teens

My twins will be at Disney with me and other extended family about a month before they turn 15. The MDE app is a bit confusing to me. They are obviously minors, but they MAY go ride some things/explore on their own. So should I set them up with their own MDE on their phones and they make accounts with their emails and then we link?
I haven’t added them at all (as a child or anything) yet because I didn’t want to do it wrong and have to try to fix it later.
TIA!

At WDW, as far as tickets and theme parks are concerned, any guest aged 10 years and over is considered an "adult."
Just go ahead and add the teens to your MDE account (using their real ages) and you can allow them to access your account if they "need" anything.

(Only for WDW resort rooms is there a distinct category for "juniors" and that doesn't affect the parks.)

So if they go off on their own some, they can use my login on the app on their phone and set up genie plus for them and I can use my app with my login to set up genie + for myself as well?

Agree with the above and we actually do this even though my kids are "adults" it's just much easier to use one MDE account. We have tried both and its much less complicated than linking, managing etc....

I would think that this is a liability. We have MDE accounts for each person and we are linked as a family. People can still go on and do stuff but if I make a reservation, someone else can't cancel it on their account: I have to do it. I don't think I would want my kids (even though adult) logging in on my account and doing/changing stuff.

I guess if you're not confident in your family that could be a concern, but we have been doing this since the inception of MDE and never had an issue. No idea why my kids would cancel or change an ADR or a group LL selection though.
