MDE/MDX...does not seem fair

So many things. First, I have an extra husband that I can't get rid of.

It seemed fun and okay until I tried to attach family and friends so that I could plan for us altogether. It wouldn't attach. Now I have my mother added, but it won't let me have access to include anyone else(children) in her party.
Everywhere I turn, I get an error or unavailable.
Really. I'm pretty patient and I love this kind of planning and stuff, but I've had nothing but a hard time at every turn.
I did contact via chat, and all the cm said was, "that everyone was having problems."

I've accidentally cloned my brother in law and his partner in my reservations ( lol) and I can't delete them for some reason

It seems that "traditional" families traveling alone (without extended family or friends) are having a lot more luck than those who have to link multiple groups or guests from multiple rooms. Disney just didn't do a good enough job on this code, and it is a real problem because those people want to tour/ride together. And it seems to become even worse when they want to ride together sometimes (for some rides) but not at other times (for other rides).

The code problem isn't really the problem - it is the decision to keep rolling forward without fixing it first. They can't go backward, but they can stop adding new test groups, putting even more stress on the system.

Just crazy. :confused3

No offense, but I honestly can't get over the people who are like, "Meh. So the website/App is filled with funky glitches. So what? It's Disney after all! They'll eventually fix it. They're magical, remember?"

Really? It is a terrible website and has been for a year. People are spending hours of their lives dealing with its glitches. It's not OK. It's not magical. It's just not.

"That. Does. Not. Work"

What are you finding does not work? I think most ppl out here are finding the system "functional," altho perhaps not optimal for some touring styles. Is the system not working? What is wrong? Can you not get on the site, or is the app giving you errors?

Aside from what I've found to be minor glitches like names not showing up for a few hours or the infamous "there seems to be a blip in the network" error, the system seems to be functional in general... If you provide more details maybe we can help?

I don't consider names and reservations disappearing to be minor glitches. Most guests don't even know this is typical of the Disney site. I use a cruiseline with many website glitches, but if a name disappeared from our cruise reservation, I would have a heart attack. Yet, I'm supposed to shrug and say oh well if it happens on MDE.

Even our traditional family with one MDE account randomly lost some FP+ today. If that happens at the park, I will be the crazy lady insisting my daughter gets to ride Peter Pan with the rest of her family.

I traveled recently to WDW with my extended family, and my brother has a computer science degree. Among other things, part of his job is to write aps. (Nothing that I found interesting, mostly for specific things that companies want their employees to be able to do or for researchers to collect/store data...)

But anyhow, my point is that he was completely appalled at the errors, lack of functionality and SLOW speed of MDE. He said he would never allow something like that to be "client ready".

The sad part is that its been "client ready" for a long time. It was horrible last year at this time when I was planning my trip.

MDE had my DH as a friend but no longer as family. You should have seen the look on my DS 6's face when he saw that screenshot. I wasted at least 5 minutes explaining that Disney did not predict divorce...at least I hope not.

I agree - I am not a FP+ basher, but I have said from my first experience with the app that it is a mess and needs to be fixed. It is now a necessary part of your vacation, and I just don't get how Disney is rationalizing their continued rollout without fixing the bugs.

They just keep telling people its a test ;)

totally agree..

I am tired of reading that we are suppose to just lower our expectations , they are still in testing blah blah blah, we aren't entitled or owed anything.

B/c after all it is Disney right.... well that "might" work and be ok, if the prices of said trip were also adjusted to reflect such disarray.. but we all know that is NOT the case.
I am trying to stay positive but it is just one thing after another.... sorry for the mini rant... :(

Somehow MDE has my extended family (my parents and siblings) as my family and my kids and husband as friends. I gave up and am keeping it that way.

The extra husband sounds like a personal problem!

But if you are referring to an extra husband on MDE, I had an extra son last year. I could not delete, had to call MDE help desk and they had to remove. Took about a week and half and a couple calls?? THis was last July, FP+ was only beginning to test limited but MDE was up. I don't know if conditions are worse or better now with tech help but at that time not too great!! I don't know the phone number but I called via the regular Disney phone line and they connected me to tech assistance with MDE.

I don't know about the app but that is a traditional experience with ATT's network. Remember when I phone was released exclusively with ATT. All kind of problems. ATT blamed apple and apple blamed ATT. When I phone was released to others the problems went away!!

Disney switched contracts to ATT last July for wireless networking. Although I hear ATT networks have improve and are faster they traditionally take on contracts unprepared. If you have Verizon try using your own network not the wifi. I hear folks have had pretty good luck with that. Verizon previously had contract and the towers are still in place.

The website was horrible before MDE. I think our expectations are pretty low. They never fixed the old system, and I'm pretty sure they won't fix this one.

This is true, and thanks for the reminder. :goodvibes

I remember the roll out for the new website and thinking that despite the glitches, maybe it would finally work properly on most days. And I'm pretty sure you're right unfortunately.

This is good to know, and surprising. When we landed in Florida we got put on the ATT network for cellphone service. Sometimes I thought my phone was broken, sometimes I excused it by the amount of concrete around me, but I'm pretty sure it was just the network -- just not the coverage I'm used to in any way. At home we have such good service that many of us don't need landlines anymore, but I keep one for emergencies and for my burglar alarm. My mobile data works almost as well as my home internet.

But it is great to hear there are other companies doing a better job.

Unfortunately, while some do not seem to experience problems, others do. How many people, we don't really know. I will say this, these problems aren't new. I had problems last February. I went online and signed in to make ADR's on the 180th day. The system refused to let me. I had to wait until 7 am to call and even then, I was on the phone for hours because the CM could not bypass the system. I had to wait until the next day when a supervisor called to help with the issue which still took hours. This is just one example to give you an idea of just how long these problems have existed. It's one big PITA to say the least and should not be presented as minor.

I know it's hard to remain patient (I to am a very patient person), but as of now we have no choice but to keep trying. Maybe, log out and step away for a few days and then try again. I know this suggestion doesn't promise much but it will help you keep your sanity;).

You should keep the extra husband long enough to make him wait in line for the Frozen Meet & Greet.

Yesterday-MDE. Today Fafsa renewals (a real pain in the afsa with our lo-speed internet).

I think I'll head over to the Apple store tomorrow to top it all off.

Starting out a brand-new husband like that!?

You are a cruel man, very cruel........
