MDE, Magic Band & Linking Questions

Hi all,

We're new members and I have some magic band questions about FP use and linking.

We have an off property stay in August that was already planned, but were able to snag one night on points at the end of our trip to get a shot at Moonlight Magic.

We will have a few family members with us that don't have previous magic bands, so it would be great to be able to use these bands for the full trip even though the actual DVC stay isn't until the last night.

1. So once we get those magic bands, as long as they are linked to tickets in MDE, will they be good to use for the preceding days before check-in? Or would online check-in ahead of time solve this anyway?

2. Will there be any weird issues of trying to make FP's with a 60 day window for our last day but the 30 day window for all the days before?

3. It's an extended family trip with multiple families and slightly different lengths of stay. So by putting some people on this reservation, but not everyone, will it complicate the friends and family groupings in MDE? For example my nephew is listed on our room reservation but will be staying with his mom at least a day or two beyond us.

I'm thinking everything should work, just wanted to see if there's anything I'm missing since it's a new scenario for us. I know that's a lot, hope my questions make sense. Thanks in advance for any thoughts, or experiences!

Magic Bands access your MDE account and do not require a room reservation so you'll be able to use them the entire trip to enter and to redeem fast passes.

I wouldn't foresee an issue with the fastpass going between 30 and 60 days either.

As far as making FPs goes, the system only checks to see whether the individual person has valid theme park admission and an onsite reservation for the days (checkin through checkout) the FPs would be used, if booking at 60 days. When booking at 30 days or fewer before the day the FPs would be used, it just checks to see if the person has valid theme park admission for that day. So no problem there.

And when booking a FP for a particular attraction, you can choose the individuals from your Friends and Family list to be included (or not) in that FP group, so having your nephew stay over after his mother leaves won't be a problem either.

BTW on the Theme Parks board there's a sticky thread that contains detailed information and can answer any questions you have, no matter how complicated, about making FPs with various permutations of groups and reservations!

Have fun!
