MDE Friends & Family privacy question

On the My Disney Experience website, I think I am networked to a family that I do not vacation with. I have a family member on my list who vacations with both my family and this other family. I was able to view all of the reservation details (resort, dining, FP+), including confirmation numbers and who booked the reservation, for this other family's most recent vacation on MDE because our mutual friend vacationed with them and was attached to that trip.

I may be old fashioned, but I am concerned now that anyone who is friends with this family member can see all of my reservation information. Not something that I really want to share with others. Sometimes people tend to not have the best of intentions...

Is there a way that I can stop this from happening other than removing this person from my family and friends list?

You can adjust sharing options if you click 'Edit' for connected individuals on your Family & Friends list.

If you select 'View only our shared activities', they will not see any plans they are not part of.

NOTE: The sharing option is one-way. Your connected friends would need to change the option on their side to control what plans of theirs you see.

Thanks. I did switch that but from the wording, it doesn't sound like it impacts what that person's other friends can see. It sounds like it only impacts what that person can see in my plans.

Think of it this way...adult person A makes resort and dining reservations for person A ,B and C and another adult person D. Person D is also friends with another adult person E. I believe person E can see person D's reservations because they're friends so in effect, person E is really seeing person A's reservation information (through person D).

I was person E recently. I could see plans for person A's family (including confirmation numbers) simply because person D was included on that trip and person D is on my family list also. I think person D would have had to change their settings to not allow me to see their plans. But I want to control visibility to my plans, I don't want to rely on someone else to have their settings set appropriately.

I believe you are seeing their plans because your friend has it set so you can see all THEIR plans not just your shared activities. If you change your settings it limits what they see of your plans but won't limit what you see of their plans. HTH

I guess like you said it might just be old fashioned thinking but I don't know anyone in their right mind would care what my plans were or mine theirs for that matter.

Can't you just unlink them all together? Everyone can just have their own account and do their own thing.

I don't think the OPs concerns are being understood in this thread. It sounds like the OP doesn't have a problem with their friend seeing all of their activities, but they don't want the friends of their friends to see the activities. Even if the OP limits the privacy settings to "only view shared activities" it seems like the friends of their friends will still be able to view those shared activities.

I think the privacy settings leave a lot to be desired.

Yes Stacey, it's really the friends of friends where I think there may be a shortcoming with privacy. Since I could see friend of friends confirmation numbers, I imagine they can see mine even if I set our mutual friend's setting to only see shared plans. Since we don't usually make plans without our friend, that switch probably would not have any impact. It seems like either laziness on the part of Disney or that they're not privy to Internet security...which would be scary :scared:

I definitely keep stuff like confirmation numbers private.

It's not that I care who sees my plans, it's that I was able to see confirmation numbers and the name of the person that booked reservations for a trip that I was not a part of. That is a privacy issue.

I may just disconnect my friend for now. The concept is nice though because we can both see what our itinerary is. Just needs a bit more work IMHO.
