MDE Family & Friends List - Keeping Plans Private?

Hello all, I'd like to plan a surprise trip for next year with a close friend. This person is currently linked under my MDE account, and they appear in the Family & Friends List. Currently, it states that their plans are managed by me, and when I click the Update link, it gives me an option to "Share Planning with Eric".

My basic understanding of this list is that, unless I specifcally choose to share planning with this person (and then enter their e-mail), they will have no visibility into the plans I'm making for them. I just don't want to link this person to the reservation, ADRs, etc. and then they somehow receive e-mails regarding the plans.

Am I correct in thinking that unless I enter their e-mail, they won't receive any communications from Disney?

Not necessarily. If you choose them in the drop down list of your plans for events they will get an email. So if you book a reservation at a restaurant and it is for 4, you then choose which guests will be on the reservation. On this step you will have to choose the people later and make the reservation. Any time a guests name is linked to a reservation it will notify them. At least that has been the case for me in the past.

I encountered this problem when planning a surprise trip for my daughter. I ended up created a ‘spare’ MDE account and making the ADRs from that account. I knew then that I wouldn’t accidentally press the wrong button and reveal all.
