MDE App was horrible this trip

I have to be available by cell phone constantly when working my post retirement job. It’s tricky because it has to be in silent so I miss some texts if I don’t notice the vibration. Not appealing to use a phone on vacation. Modern life I guess.
 
If this was stated I may have missed it but were those of you with problems using the WDW WiFi or your own 4G or tethered Internet? I have had a much better experience with MDE providing my own data as opposed to trying to use the parks. What appears to be app problems are often actually data problems.
 
This topic has reached a level of recurrence that it probably deserves to have a pinned thread, if not it's own forum.

Problem was the same if on Disney's WiFi or on 4G - and only once inside the parks. Outside the parks...no issues.
 

We were at WDW August 7 - 14, and I was anticipating issues based on recent experiences with Disney tech side overall. However, we really did not experience any real problems (occasional glitches, but small).

I know for a fact we could view all dining credits on the app, because, frankly, my husband was a wee bit obsessed with using up all of those dang snack credits LOL I wish I could tell you exactly how we could view the dining credits (I think it was under our hotel area), but as with some many features of the app, that is not viewable once you leave property.

I do wonder if this is a platform/browser issue to some degree. There were 5 of us n our family group, and we all had phones, but not an Apple in the group.
We didn’t go this year, but when we were there last August all of my family BUT me had issues with the app and I’m the only one with an iPhone. They all had Android. :) Must be the shoe’s on the other foot this year.

I agree with the WiFi vs. 4G, but I had as many issues at my resort as I did in the parks. Geography didn’t seem to be a factor.

We stayed off-site. Once off property, it was fine.
